I was going to head out and do an oil change, I'm at 2500 miles. That is until I see everyone is using ramps? Do I really need ramps to get under this truck? I've never had a pick up I've needed ramps to change the oil.

My 1991 toyota pickup, 2005 tundra, 2007 tundra, no ramps. How can this be so low everyone is using ramps?

It's just easier, also you dont have the skirt so you should be able to do it no issue.

I have a 24 Off-Road. You don't need ramps, plenty to space to do the oil change. Besides, ramps have a tendency to slide (while driving on them) if you don't secured them properly.

Isnt the oil changes free the first 2 years/25,000 miles? After that, are you skinny and easily get under there? no you dont need ramps. Are you fat and can't get under there, then yes you need ramps.

You don't need ramps, but they are damn nice to have. Four-wheeling onto a couple of chunks of 2 x 4's will help.

If I put the truck in four-wheel-drive, mine won't slide.

I'm not trying to be the "ackshully" guy. But it's free in the sense that there's no financial cost. It's not free in the time sense or the risk sense. Time spent driving to dealership, waiting, having some clown cross thread your skidplate bolts, double gasket an oil filter, over tighten a drain plug, over torque the shit out of your lug nuts. It takes me about 40 minutes start to finish to do an oil change and costs $32 all in with oil, filter, gasket. Rotating tires takes about 45 minutes start to finish. This is using jack stands for everything. Just an oil change is about a 20 minute job with no lift.

They aren’t free unlimited oil changes, only regular scheduled maintenance is included with the free Toyota care and is every 10k miles for oil changes, so it’s two free oil changes in the first two years If you take it in at 5,000 they’ll just inspect and rotate the wheels if you ask.

This. I'm on hold, I thought I had drain bolt washers. Will be equally as warm on Tuesday, good excuse for taking a half day. I know I can reuse the washer but I'll just wait two days

I'm overweight and borderline obese, I use ramps so I can comfortably move around using a creeper. If you are built lean and don't mind lying on the ground then no ramps

I tried to 4 wheel ramp it but the front 2 broke. I changed my oil and filter and installed a fumoto at ground level without any lifts. I ended up using my unbroken 2 ramps for front wheels to install my new skid plate

I keep shitting / squirting these ramps all over the garage. Is 4WD the best way to grab the ramps? Mine are plastic.

ive never had trouble grabbing all 4 with my only other car, which is a Subaru… however this one slips bad, and I thought it was the wet tires (pouring snow this winter). After seeing the 2 front ramps get demolished, I’m never doing 4 wheel ramps anymore… 4WD haven’t even crossed my mind (should theoretically work on dry tires with ramps solidly grounded allowing no chance of slippage…)

Only need ramps if you are fat and your belly gets in the way

I haven't tried this yet, but Youtube's 'Project Farm' says you cure this by putting it in 4WD.

That's the way I do it with my plastic ramps. They don't move.

Adding to the votes against needing ramps. Very easy without. I would argue that is even too high and that the 0W-20 will splash all over when it hits your oil drain pan since it is pouring out so high with the viscosity of water. Ask me how I know... Lol
