I have a 95 Tacoma with the 2.7 and I just did the head gasket on it, and it seems to want to sit at about 1500 rpm at idle. When I pulled the intake off I noticed it was caked in oil so I cleaned it throughly along with the throttle body. It’s also in need of a coolant temp sending unit and I was wondering if any of these things have a part to play with the high idle. And if so where should I start.

So I cleaned the maf and the iacv and it seems to have fixed the high idle issue But I’m still having and issue with it starting. It’ll crank for a few seconds the act like it’s not starting then take off.

Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
Try the coolant temp sending unit. It may be telling the ECU it's not to temp forcing a higher idle.

So I cleaned the maf and iacv and that helped the high idle issue and now it’s throwing a po115 coolant temp sensor circuit code. I changed the sensor and it still won’t start. And the code still appears
