how many non-running cars do you have now

 

honestly I’m surprised at how settled in we are now at just 1 week in. But the physical and mental toll has been rough, Sofia has major highs and lows which is fairly normal for her but they feel much more pronounced amidst all this settling in we’re doing.

Dex is living it up, he's the embodiment of this



despite the fact that the backyard is much smaller with no grass (yet). We have a bunch of lizards and he keeps eating them and getting lizard shits, so hopefully he learns eventually

 

I trust you realize this won't happen. Dogs can't connect consequences with events even 30secs after they happened, positive or negative. That's why all training/rewarding has to happen in the moment.

 

Yeah he still hasn't figured out stairs yet either, keeps trying to run up but they're hardwood and a couple of angles that he constantly wipes out on

 

Poor guy, might need a stair runner or his paws shaven out. Hardwood and angles are rough for their hip muscles

Yeah that's true the way you put it. I think a lot of folks are unable to differentiate value from money. Those that see a cheaper service as being a better value. Next thing you know your mechanic can't figure out why your truck won't start lol poking fun but that's a prime example to your point.

Did I miss the part where the "short" driveshaft is the cause of the failure? Pictures showed a nuked rear ujoint. And how short was it, obviously you still had spline engagement in the slip yoke. If you're driving on level ground like it sounded like you were, it's not really easy for it to slip out.

And as much as you want to blame them, you don't know how long it is supposed to be to know how far off it is. And you accepted the service/product once you paid for it.

I'm past the point as well, although there are some comforts of a newer vehicle that older vehicles lack.

But one nice thing about little old Toyotas, at least in my experience is the ladies love em

Yeah you gotta be at them immediately Venice turned into an amazing dog but she did learn a few things that when she did them, she got disciplined and she figured it out pretty quick.

 

I'm not necessarily saying it's 100% their fault or that it being too short was the primary cause. I was just turned off by them immediately blaming it on me or the fact that my truck had a lift on it (like you and others said, countless owners have lifted their trucks 3" or more and not had major driveshaft issues) instead of working with me to try to determine the cause. It really should've been immediately exchanged out for one with the correct length. Yea, I probably could've handled it better and been more assertive at the time. But at the end of the day, I'm not the one who made the driveshaft.

 

You missed the point Nicholas. How did the drive shaft being short (but long enough to connect in the splines of the slip yoke) cause the ujoint to fail? You are so hung up on the shaft length (giggity) that you haven't even considered that it had a defective u-joint in it.

And you told them the driveshaft was acceptable when you paid for it.

 

Yea I'm not sure on how it being too short may or may not have caused the u joint to fail. I had assumed it caused the vibrations that in turn caused the failure, but I'm not a driveshaft expert obviously. It's possible the u joint itself was somehow defective, or installed incorrectly.

And when I paid for the shaft, it wasn't installed, so I didn't realize it was too short until I tried to install it. The flange also had an incorrect bolt pattern on it btw, so I had to take it to them to get that changed out.

The clearance on this thing blows but still had fun with it.
