    It is very possible but I find it easier to be in control without flooring it to the detent to get it to downshift when I have the ability to control the transmission with my right hand. No wrong way really.

    With the skinny pedal it ends up dropping down two gears, if you anticipate and select 5th it will usually climb the hill in 5th, not 4th.
