I just purchased a 2011 TRD Taco, and it came with the stock 6-CD Changer head unit with SAT and Aux input. For some reason, the sound / quality / loudness gets worse as the volume gets turned up. Sounds great low, but try to crank, and its like the unit is reducuing power or loudness. Does this have to do with the ASL thats part of it? Anyway to over ride it? Or am I stuck.

I had the same system....in my 2011 TRD Off Road.......HAD is the key word.....I couldn't stand it. It sucked. period. Wasn't loud at all and yes got distorted quickly.

I just replaced the whole system, HU and all 4 speakers.

I have an '09 with the same system with the same issues. I have to almost hit volume 20 before I can hear anything and then it doesn't get much louder. It's on my to do list to get a new double din navigation soon. The only stock system I have ever liked is in my wife's new SI Civic.
