New 2024 TRD Off Road won’t start

Typically that’s why people come on vehicle forums genius.

 

Try moving the negative cable on the battery. Maybe it’s too loose to start but not run the other things.

So I am back. Truck wouldn’t start that night. Went back next morning and it started right up. Drove to dealership. Tested battery- it was fine. No history of codes thrown. Sent on my way with an oops let us know if it happens again.

Welcome back. Hope it doesn’t happen again. Very odd but did sound like a loose ground. I’d recommend getting yourself a portable jumper. Even with a new truck it could be useful and if anyone asks you for a jump, they can use it and not risk damaging your truck by them hooking up the cables wrong. The good jumpers won’t work if not connected right.

Some of the most interesting posts have come from tolls lol. They just leave us hanging with no updates ever. Just poof

 

It has me wondering if there is a condition that prevents starting. The only thing I could think of is not being in P.

So this is everyone's favorite kind of problem:
1. A mystery, and
2. Intermittent

Good luck, and hope it doesn't happen again (or you're not far from a dealer when it does). Check your paperwork to see if you do have roadside assistance, ideally you get the truck towed right to the dealer and have them start diagnosing it if it happens again.

We don't know that the battery was the issue, but everyone should pack a jump starter these days (they're compact and reliable enough). Can save you a tow or hitch ride to the auto parts store in the future.

This happened to me today also..2000 miles on truck..It felt like the brake pedal was very tight when trying to start.Got out and it kinda rocked the truck back and forth a little, then got back in and it started right up..very weird

 

I have just had about four cases of my manual TRD Off Road taking about ten or more start button pushes to start. Dash looks normal, says our foot on brake and clutch to start. Many start button pushes and nothing. Eventually, it starts right up.

I am at 1,000 miles

 

I had this same issue today. Any insight as to why? Battery is testing fine, tried boosting, tried all the fobs. Remote start from app thinks it started but doesn’t. Any suggestions.

 

This sounds like a classic case of demonic possession. I'd recommend an exorcism.

 

It is a classic case of a legend auto company that made one of the best trucks of all time, who decided to cut corners on their new Tacoma's. There is no reason why this should be occurring and I honestly feel bad for you guys who are having this problem. Imagine your brand new truck not starting, you take it to the dealership, and they tell you they find nada. Zero. Have a nice day and call us if it happens again. Brutal.

 

Trade it in on something reliable, like a jeep...jk, a second or third gen.

 

Next time you can try disconnecting the negative battery cable for a minute to reset the trucks computer. Has worked for me on other newer vehicles.

 

For ultimate reliability, I'd recommend an old Fiat.
