Help me decide 265/70/16 or 265/75/16?

LED Bed lights, gas cap holder, MA1 W/ 90 degree connector, Drop Step Running Boards, Console Tray (Red Trim), Cup Holder Insert Kit (Red Trim), Head Rest Hooks, LED interior lights, Dog Hammock, rear door protectors, LED reverse lights (now VTAILs), black tailgate inserts, blackout badging, color matched glovebox letter inserts, VTAILS, H9 low beams, LED tag lights, bed mat, tailgate mat, Tri-fold soft Tonneau cover, Pro grill (OEM), AVS In-Channel Rain Guards (smoke),

Basically every speedo (old or new) I have checked against a GPS speedo app and or watching live data abs and or VSS readings shows the speedo being 1-2/3 mph faster than what the vehicle is actually doing, (unless a certified LEO vehicle), it is to give a bit of a buffer from speeding by going over a couple mph... but the live data shows the correct speed, giving OEM wheels/tire sizes... I have checked many different vehicles by doing this...

I had a 3rd gen 4runner that I put larger tires on. Had issues with the antilock system kicking in way too early. I think it was the computer dealing with a different sized tire.

Haven't heard of any similar issues with Tacomas. Will probably size up. I wish they had white lettering!!

75s for sure. I switched to them 45,000 miles ago and no regrets.

I went from the stock 265/70R16 the wrangler territory AT (crap tire) to 265/75R16 KO2's. They just look so much better in every way.
Don't really notice any difference on the speedo when pairing it against GPS monitored speed so I am not too worried there. The fuel economy loss from the size difference is nothing compared to just going from the P rated stock tire to an E load KO2. But really it's not that bad of a hit.
I don't picture modifying the truck in any way to fit anything larger.
Only other consideration would be the 235/85R16

265/70/16 was an optional size and what came on my 2007. It's the same height as 245/75/16 but about 3/4" wider. Technically 20mm (265mm-245mm= 20mm)

I upsized to 265/75/16's years ago and have no regrets. Same width as 265/70's but about 1" taller. Just enough to look better with no downsides that I've found.

My Speedometer is MORE accurate with 265/75's on it.

Not something to worry about anyway. Tires get smaller as they wear and the speedometer is changing as the tires get smaller. If you start with new 265/75's they will be the same size as new 265/70's when you have 40,000 miles on them

75's all day. Just went from stock tires to ko3's and the tires look great with no rubbing

OP, I got those same tires in 75 and like them enough to also put them on my 4runner.

Ok one more question. You guys that have these tires, E or SL? Looks like SL is no longer in stock. I prefer SL over E...

Just made the switch to 265/75/16, went with Rocky Mountain All Terrains (SL)-Discount Tire's brand, hard to beat for $593 out the door. No affect on gas mileage that I have noticed, enjoying the increased size and better stance.

No issues, no rub even with aftermarket mud flaps. Not even a rub during a full day at the local off road park going up and over everything.

    THANK YOU!!!
This man remembers geometry from high school. If this were a sticky it would be great. Would answer tons of speedo questions. Have seen many people freaking out on TW about making sure the speedo is still precise with size X tires. It’s probably accurate for a few thousand miles midlife of the tire. And it’s a precision that is really not that important. If you get pulled over for going 2 mph over the limit then something else is wrong. Or you have a warrant out on you.
