I picked up like new Falken AT3w off a Jeep guy going 37s off the lot. The Rubicon or Mojave use 285 70 17 C load. Great way to save some cash.

I'm happy with mine. I think they are as good as and possibly better then my duratracs in winter which were my favorite tires. Much better then my k02s, obviously better then my skinny yoko g003s. No complaints here.

Hell my parents even put a set of 275/70r17 on my mom's trd pro 4runner. My old man loves them in winter as well, he runs duratracs on his Sierra and says the at4ws are better. The stock terra grapplers on that 4 runner were downright scary in winter.

Is anyone running these in Load Range E and think they run pretty hard / rough? Or am I an outlier?

Im at a loss then. I feel every micro bump on the pavement and it’s bouncy. I give up. Had them for 1,000 miles. Everyone else loves them. Must be something wrong with me! Thinking to go to the general grabber in SL but they seem iffy.

Looking for an AT? Probably going to have to watch YouTube reviews on some brands to get some comfort on next purchase.

have them re balanced, and like a road force balance, my wife has a set on her subaru and when they are cold i feel everything, once they warm up they seem way better, but have had friends with them who have had a road force balance and its done way better for them

They def ride harder initially until about 10 min of driving then it gets better . I’m torn because they look amazing, are tough as balls, and grip like super glue.

what I really want is a 50-55 pound C load that’s aggressive and in my size and somewhat comfortable. But all that’s out there are 40-45 S loads and 60+ pound hard as iron Es

The AT4W are super crazy durable. I’ve never had an LT tire so it could be that I’m just a big baby. I just like my cushy ride.

Maxxis Razr A/T is a great tire. I have P285/70/17 and the sidewalls have held up to lots of abuse in the San Juans off roading and going way to fast over rocks. Super comfy ride compared to my last E load tires.

Ok guys help me out. I want to avoid returning them if possible. Even the DT dude is running them on his Chevy and loves them. I am running LT275/70/18. 33.43”. Gorgeous tire and perfect size as it runs big and fills up the Trailhunter wheel well with zero mods. It’s literally a perfect match up. All the other tires I’ve seen run 33.2” and this one also runs wider - more between a 275 and a 285 than a 275. It just works. But it’s really bumpy. The entire family is like why do I feel every bump. I’ve run 33 up to 38 PSI. It feels best at 34 for some oddball reason but still not great. It did try 31 once and it is super nice that low, but that seems way too low for an E load and it looked flat visually. They were road force balanced by discount and I don’t really feel vibrations mostly just constant bumps that seem exaggerated.

also I’ve got 2.5” thick Old man emus which are like butter - or were with the stock tires. And my rig weighs 5400 lb so it’s not that it’s too light. It’s a somewhat heavy taco.

Im just at a loss. I think I’m just not used to E loads.

oh and my buddy put Falken AT4Ws in an E LT load on his 4Runner which weighs like 800 pounds less than my truck and he loves them

    Pretty typical of E-loads.

That’s interesting your Dad liked them in the winter, they are good spring summer and fall but snow braking they suck, Ko2 was even better in tests for snow braking.

Yeah I've seen all those videos, But I've ran both and k02s suck. I had 2 sets on 2 different trucks in 2 different sizes for around 70 k km and I hate them. They throw rocks like crazy as well, At4ws don't. I have experience with a lot of different tires and I put falkens at the top.

This is just my opinion and experience, everyone is free to like what they like and buy what they want:cheers:

I will say every tire sucks on ice unless it's studded. Nokian hakk 10s on my corolla were crazy good, I never even knew when it was icy.

What Falkens do you run? Size? Load?

I had the AT3s in S load and loved them. My AT4s are E and super hard / rough. But they are grippy as fuck. And superior on many dimensions. Maybe I just have to switch to a standard load AT4W. Love Falkens generally but these are too firm.

I feel it the worst when driving over uneven road and there is a small, sharp drop in the road — feels quite severe when the truck drops that 1” if that makes sense

I agree everyone has different experiences with tires, I ran KO2s for years no issues. I have Falken AT3w now, 10lbs heavier per tire same size and load range. It didn’t blow me away in performance in the snow so far, pretty much a regular AT tire. I put Falken as a tire I’d only buy if I was getting an awesome deal. Definitely wouldn’t pay full retail.

Funny how this guy did multiple runs and the KO2 did better than the AT4w in snow braking and hydroplane test .

And this test the AT4w really sucked in snow
