For now… What plans do you have in the works?

 

Not sure yet. I just never leave anything stock. If you look at the other vehicles in that photo lol. The 79 Cherokee has a 6bt Diesel swap on d60s and 40s. The JKU has a small lift and 35s. I've had a dozen other modded and built jeeps.
I'm mostly researching now because I know nothing about Toyota or the Independent Front suspension systems. I need to figure out how strong they are to support what tire size. I'll probably do light wheeling maybe like Blues at places Rausch Creek. So something of a mild build on 35s

So I just got my first electric/solar generator, it’s a Goal Zero. The owner’s manual is very clear that they recommend leaving it plugged in while in storage and it says multiple times that leaving it plugged in will not harm the battery.

Does anyone have any thoughts on that? Everything I’ve ever been taught is to unplug electric stuff at or before 100% to save the battery life.

Some research on Reddit shows a lot of people saying that they write that in the owner’s manual so it will die faster and then you have to buy a new one lol

 

That’s pretty interesting lol. Usually unhooking it is the way to go but maybe it’s special.

 

Wife is not on board with me getting a 4R or Lexus. She said I told her she couldn’t get one or one of the Danali models, can’t remember which one…. I reminder her I said they take premium gas and then she didn’t want it

Yeah it’s weird, isn’t it? In the part of the manual that talks about the battery, it talks about leaving it plugged in for months at a time while it’s “in storage”. I’ll probably just charge it until it’s full and then store it unplugged. Leaving it plugged in 24/7 just feels so wrong.

 

If it were me… I’d charge it to 100% and then put a trickle charger (Battery Tender) on it. Thats what I keep on all the power sport stuff and mowers and what not. My mower stays outside in the shed year round… I bought it in 2018 and it’s still on its original battery, but also lives on a battery tender year round as well. Think you can grab one on Amazon for like $30

I have a battery box. I don't like calling them generators. I've had for over 5 years now. When I was living out of my van I had it hooked up to my solar panel 24/7. I was just running my fridge and charging my phone. I'll have to check it when I get back to Utah next week but it should be fully charged. I don't have it plugged in at all currently but I do think it does lose its charge. I think what these companies are saying is if you want the full battery to be available when you need it to keep it plugged in for when you do. Check out will prowse on YouTube he has a lot of knowledge on this topic.

 

Looking more into the 4R, it’s kinda dumb that only the platinum trim has the heads up display. That’s something I’d want if upgrading.

When I told my wife I was looking at the 4R and GX, she said she doesn’t think I’d be happy not having a truck… and there would be no way in hell I’d take a Lexus off road at Rausch or AOAA… or any wooded trails

She does make some great points
