I have a 2013 Tacoma 4x4 access cab 6 cylinder. I installed the Bosch Icon Beam wiper blades about 4 months ago since they were highly recommended. They really suck and chatter all the time in any type of rainfall, light or heavy. And yes, I've tried cleaning the windshield too. Can someone recommend some good refills including the exact model name? Maybe I should just go with Toyota OEM blades?

I've had better longevity with the OEM Toyota inserts than anything else and mine's outside 24/7

Bosch ain't what it used to be,
I've always had really really good luck with Rain-x blades.

I had to get wipers on my road trip back with my truck - grabbed low/lower end Bosch at the parts store and they are indeed a chattery, terrible mess. I have a set of silicone Thermalblade V3 ready to go on once I get this old thing back on the road - but me thinks that's not quite what you're looking for..

I have PIAA Super Silicone beams on my Subaru that I put on in 2018 that still work good as new 6+ years later. Car lives outside, no garage - and was in SoCal for 3 of those years, so lots and lots of UV at first. And now in the northern rust belt I've got wild temperature swings and frost and road salt and such here. I have had them on a few prior vehicles as well - I'm a big big fan, but trying the heated route on the Tacoma..sort of expecting to only run them in the winter, and get the SS for the rest of the year, but we'll see.

I just got Aslam refills (inserts) off of Amazon and so far they are great. Time will tell how they hold up!

I’ve experimented and tried various types of the fancy rain-x ones and the advanced auto parts store brand ones as well as the OEM ones.

After ~75K miles of experimentation it seems to be that OEM or generic “auto parts store” ones are not only cheaper, but better. The rain-x ones always leave terrible streaks and don’t last any longer than the cheaper ones.

    X2 on the OEM refills.
Also if you lost your OEM frames the cheap michelin blades at WalMart take the oem refills nicely

Thanks for that! I wasn't even aware that the inserts were replaceable till I started working at a dealership a while back. Of course by then it was too late, as I've had aftermarket blades on there for years. When it's time for the next change I'll get the cheapos from walmart and slip some OEM inserts in there.

    Every car is different.
if you had an old Audi it's known that you can use Valeo or maybe another brand and have good performance, regarding aero wipers vs non aero (aero is better)

just like how on the 2nd gen Tacoma, it's also known the following
    1. OEM wipers are better if not best, as they are metal with a shit ton of little arms to apply pressure all over. So they work and do not streak or chatter
    2. the wiper blade inserts are good quality, good price, and replaceable by themselves when they wear out, due to it being a metal arm where they slide in to replace, unlike other designs that do not.

Have the factory metal arm? Put an insert.
Don't have the arms? Get them. And put inserts.

Gee, I've had good luck with Bosch, Rain-X, and Michelins. Maybe my expectations are too low. LOL

I've had no trouble with my rain-x wipers. but I also treat the glass with rain-x too, so I rarely have to even use my wipers. Really only when I'm at speeds to low to blow the windscreen clear.

I have decent luck with the "cheapie" NAPA blades. A dealership is never close by when I have to replace them.

I've had good luck with Rain-X Hybrid wipers from Walmart. I just replaced the wipers on all 3 vehicles last week. I got just about a year out of the old ones.

I had bosch icons on for a year or so. They got real loud and chattered no matter how wet or clean the windshield was. I tried doing the slight bending adjustment to the wiper arms that is shown all over youtube to shut them up. Didnt work. I got a pair of rainx silicone enduras a few weeks ago. They are silent and streak free. Time will tell how they hold up.

    welp now i'm concerned lol.

I had replaced my old blades with OEM inserts...worked well for a while, then they started chattering, then they started streaking. dealt with em for a few months but then switched over to Bosch Icons and I haven't had a problem with streaking or chattering.

to OP, everyone says OEM inserts are the best, but I didn't have the same experience with them.

OEM inserts in heavy rain, it was like the water would jump rite over the blade.
Which is why I went to rain-x.

I’ve gone back to (or stayed with) OEM inserts on original frames on my three Toyota/Lexus vehicles, two Tacomas and a RX350. Nothing better and the simple inserts alone cost notalot.
