I've been digging through old posts for a couple hours, but haven't found anything convincing.

I'll be replacing my leaf packs with a set of Deavers. The leaf spring will have new bushings obviously, but should I also be replacing the OEM rubber shackle bushing (2018) at the same time? Is it recommended anytime you have the leaf springs out? I don't have any squeaking or indication that the bushing is worn.

I would likely buy new OEM shackles to avoid the difficult removal of the original bushing. Most posts I've seen use a new poly bushing so I would likely do that also. I am willing to go this route if it is recommended to do while everything is taken apart, but I don't want to add complexity if it isn't necessary.

You don't necessarily need to replace the original shackles/bushings if they are in OK shape. But in my opinion it is 100% worth doing. New replacement shackles (without bushings) cost about $25 and you can put in whatever bushing you want.

What route did you end up going and how did it turn out? I'm in a similar situation...

I've re-used them on 2005 models, don't worry about it. They rarely wear out, I've worked at Toyota a long time and we typically only change them because they seize on tundra.
