My truck has the 1GR-FE v6 and 150k miles. As far as valve adjustment does anyone have an idea about what it should cost? The dealership told me 1300 and a shop told me 1100 + parts. This seems high but does anyone have any experience with getting it done at a shop?

What makes you think you need a valve adjustment @ 150K Miles?

Rarely have I seen a Toyota Engine need a valve clearance adjustment during its lifetime.

It is expensive if needed because the design is solid buckets with no adjustment to it. If they are worn beyond limits they replace the bucket with an appropriate thickness.

A lot of ticking. Read somewhere that it needed to be done at like 100k. Maybe I’m
    Misunderstanding.

The 4.0L is a Very Noisy Engine ( Ticking ).
I doubt you need a valve adjustment at 150 K Miles.
Anyone that says you need a valve adjustment at 100K miles is just taking crap. You cannot judge from only sound. In ordser t determine if a valve adjustment is needed is to pull off the valve covers and measure the valve clearance.

You could post a video of the sound that’s concerning you but I’m willing to bet it’s the same ticking that we all have. It made me nervous when I first bought my truck but 76k miles later it sounds exactly the same and runs perfect. Save your money and keep driving!

Yeah, I spend a lot of time on this forum and don't think I've ever heard of someone actually needing a valve adjustment.
I've seen tear downs of these engines with a lot of miles on them and literally no discernable wear on the cam/bucket interface.

There are a ton of "ticking" threads simply because that seems to be a normal part of these engines. Nothing to concern about.

I am concerned because my engine doesn't tick.
