    I’ve unfortunately had the same issue with Alcan leafs. I lived in upstate NY for two years. The frame is in good condition still despite the salt, the Alcans rusted so bad so quickly that I definitely need to replace them.

    Contrary to popular belief, washing the truck in the winter doesn't really do much if anything in the way of rust prevention.

    A proper rust inhibitor does, however. (Woolwax, FluidFilm, etc)

    roof rack
    Spray some WD40, let it soak 1-2 hours, then go ahead with wirebrush or sand paper and take it off. Its only surface rust, shouldn't be hard to remove.

    I never look at the leaf springs on my Sport but I do get the Krown treatment every fall have been since new.
