Morning all, happy Friday!

 

TGIF... got about 4 hours of sleep, gotta drive 2 hours (probably get stuck in traffic) to a doctor's appt that'll probably take 10 mins. Yippee Hopefully I'll be able to take a nap before work when I get back home.

My wife went with her best friend to see it, so that worked out

I don’t remember what happened in the other two 28 series movies. Maybe I’ll have to rewatch them at some point so many movies I’m behind on though.

 

Yeah I don’t want many movies these days because they seem to all be remakes that are worse than the originals or they are movies based on video games which doesn’t interest me.

Tagging fellow so he while he goes thru this annoying Friday he can maybe think " well at least I'm not that guy". Story Time!
So remember when I thought all was well when I found the bracket for them? Hahaha calm before the storm. Never have I ever spent 13 hours at a mechanic, but there's a first for everything. When I get the truck back, I ask for measurements and they stated that they just installed it how it came out the box.... I voiced worry because what if one was set at a slightly different setting? They assured me that's not the case and with me already being there well after lunch time, I had a plan to just bring it to someone I found local on Wednesday that has been working on Tacomas for 15 years for correct heights. I deny alignment (figured wait till correct measurements) and pull out of the lot and the left shock just feels and sounds loose. I hit a quick U and bring it back and the mechanic tries to tell me its because I have one bolt from the skid missing.... I told him horse shit and he realizes the top section (rubber bushing, metal plate, nut) was loose, they try to tighten it, same problem. The main mechanic offers to check dumb ass #1s work and takes both front shocks off, raises them to 1.5" even tho I told him just leave it at the height its at now, and still has difficulty installing the driver side front. They end up throwing an additional rubber bushing on top since they weren't able to screw the nut to the desired location.....

So with it all said and done I paid $550 for 4 shocks and front brakes installed, and I have a 1.5 inch in the front and 0 in the rear.

I had to type half of this getting ready for work and the other half when got to work so apologies for the hectic ranting.

PS. I wasn't aware the rears don't give a lift by themselves. I just took it to the shop in Harper's Ferry and will let him fix the fuckery. In the meantime I'm going to do research on the most reliable way to lift the rear 1"

An add a leaf is probably the best since you have some weight in there and camp and stuff. Blocks can be used as well and might be easier to install than an AAL. Headstrong sells a 3 leaf AAL. I wouldn't consider it fixed haha, the extra bushing on only the left worries me. I won't have a piece of mind until the guy in WV inspects it. A N X I E T Y

 

That’s very true… it does sound like they didn’t do something… a lot of somethings right. Maybe they didn’t follow the guide for the stacks right. Maybe they missed it but then said they added it to make them seem less incompetent

 

Can the new shop just put the spring perch on the lowest setting?

 

Yeah that's some of my worry, what if the missing piece is on the shop floor or in the dump? What if they fucked the thread on the shock? So many possibilities

He could but then I would have to pay him to raise it back when I get the AAL. Figured if he says I can drive it while we wait for a new leaf pack then just drive for a few days with a cholo lean
