Thanks, did you have to use the included crossovers or does toyota already have built in ones in the JBL system?

I used the Infinity crossovers. I installed an JL amp and sub, unfortunately I am still waiting on hooking up the amp to the speakers.

Just got my truck with JBL yesterday. The only thing I'm not happy with is the speaker or door rattle up front. It's pretty consistent in low end/mid range. Do you think that's from speakers or panels? Did you notice this?

I adjusted to a slightly more rear balance and dropped the mid and bass slightly and it seemed to help. I wish we had a true equalizer.

I found this on FB, I am unsure if it is Sound Shaker. It appears to be pressed against the seat. Still looking for a Sub solution.

Could be the way the speakers are mounted to the door. Perhaps some sound deadening material might help a bit too.

This is my biggest complaint with the JBL as well after having the truck now for a couple of months. The front door panels vibrate a lot with the music. Only have to grab the door handle and it goes away, so I'm guessing its not anything more than just needing sound deadening material added to the door panel. If the system had some additional adjustments, I'd turn down the bass to the door speakers and turn up the sub a bit more to help with this.

The pics posted in this thread are very helpful, as I'll look into doing the sound deadening sometime this summer.

Here’s a question for those smarter than me when it comes to this stuff…
We’re talking about the smaller radio not the 14 inch…
Is there an actual difference in operating system and performance of the JBL infotainment center/radio versus a non-JBL system radio?
Meaning here, I am with a rare opportunity, the ability for her to over…
I can get an SR5 without the JBL, and I gonna be missing anything in regards to actual radio performance?
I was just going to add a sub and a dsp / amp, run the factory JBL system door speakers on my upgraded DSP amp and see what the outcome is…
but thinking if I’m just gonna get the system, what are the advantages of going with the JL, tweeters and the A pillar, upgraded A pillar plastics are $300…
The removable center channel is dumb even though the factory non-JBL center channel grill could’ve been a little nicer…
    I don’t know!!!!!

I could have skipped the JBL if it wasn't buried in the package I needed, and just like you said - add an amp and a sub, plus some upgraded speakers and likely end up with something just as good if not better than the factory JBL. But I wanted heated seats and the integrated trailer brake controller, so I was stuck with the SR5 Cold Weather Package with all the other stuff it came with it, including the JBL system and the power rear sliding window (which I personally would trade that garbage for a power driver's seat in an SR5 in a heartbeat).

After further vetting them, they were telling me stories…
A reputable stereo shop like Stereo depot can wire a controller to work on a 2024 but the harnesses are not out yet. The controllers will work, but the wiring is a little bit different so modifications to harnesses need to be made.

Here to follow this thread as I’m not super happy with my jbl system. The Bose in my civic was much better. Sure ill be updating all components soon.

@BoBsworld21 Thank you so much for the write up and the pictures. What did you do for the tweeters in the a-pillars?

    Thanks!

Would a person find much difference in performance of the system running the Infinity Kappa 693C Fronts off the stock amp in your opinion? I see these are 3ohm and assuming this is why you're running the impedance?

    Mainly stock
So I installed a JL Audio VXI 1000/5 amp with Audiofrog GS 690 6x9s in front doors and GB15 tweeters on the dashboard.
After the fact I tried the 4 inch Alpine type S Coaxials for the lack of other models available locally
Surprisingly the 4 inch speakers just dropped in place so for all of you 4th gen owners upgrading front speakers I’m very satisfied with the front sound image with the added vocals. I am looking to upgrade to 4 inch Morels possibly 4 inch focal k power components are possibly my next option as a more refined speaker for the dashboard. The sub box is a custom build seating flat behind the passenger seat with a TW3 10 inch. And of course it bumps hard with within the 2 door cabin

I finalized my decesion on conponents depending on various local installers / tuners recommendations & finally made the call to order parts & lets move forward....
Focal 3way k2 m power components with the frak tweeter for the fronts
Focal k2 coaxial for rear fill
Fully active DSP / SQ system using ARC Blackbird & Nighthawk amps
not installing cross-overs that come with the speakers "fully active
    '" , full dsp tune
underseat box with JL 12" tw34d
    sub control knob
all being done by a guy who was voted Top 100 Installers in the US, multiple times....

Hey folks - I'm a noob at all of this so please bear with me. I have a '24 Taco Limited with the (not!) premium JBL system. At my age, supurb audio escapes me as I probably can't hear anything above about 12 kHz anyway. But I do still appreciate solid bass and this OEM system certainly lacks that, so an upgrade on at least the low end is definitely pending. I had a similar problem with my Santa Fe Limited with its Infinity "premium" system - that was solved very much to my satisfaction simply by installing a 300-watt, 10" Kicker sub under the driver's seat. But that same package probably won't fit in my Taco, perhaps an 8" version, but not the 10". So I'll keep a close eye on this thread for ideas! I've gained many already including adding the sound deadening material. I'll check in with the audio installers at Best Buy, probably just for more ideas, although I might have them install anything I choose to add as they will install equipment they don't sell. (I'm not aware of any independent installers in my area anymore; the best one closed several years back.)

So to start, I have a couple of questions:

!) Has anyone one else here tried just a Beat Sonic amplifier and if so, what was the improvement? They have several models that might work and for $300 - $350, I'm willing to gamble and I can install that myself resulting in a fairly inexpensive upgrade that might meet my wants. I know nothing will cause the stock JBL sub to produce frequencies that are out of its range, but I'm thinking that's not the real problem. I DO hear low frequencies from that sub but at low volume. The bass simply lacks the "punch" I want so maybe just adding some power will be all I need? If you watch the video from Beat Sonic about the guy installing an amp in a '24 Taco with the JBL system, what exact model is that? He called it an "Encore Alpha" but did not give it a model number, and nothing on Beat Sonic's page seems to match that unit in appearance. They do have a model, ENA-3T3, I believe, that has low-level sub outputs that might be helpful if I choose to add a powered sub; that amp is intended for the non-JBL system but will work. Or I could go with the ENA-2T3 designed for the JBL system and add a $25 adapter cord that will give me high-level outputs to a powered sub. The improvement they demonstrate in that video on the mid and treble ranges is notable - I can hear much better "clarity" with that amp with the stock speakers when listening to the video on my resonably decent HT system, but I don't hear a lot of bass improvement and that might be due to how they captured the sound.

    2) Is it possible to turn off the active noise cancellation? I just want to hear what the system sounds like on the road with/without that cancellation. Agreed, road noise is high in this vehicle, much higher than my Santa Fe, and especially the GMC Sierra SLT I traded for Taco. Does just turning off the audio system also "cancel" that cancellation so I can hear the real road noise level?

    3) Is sound deadening material available in pre-cut sections for a '24 Tacoma? I think I'd rather wait for that before installing anything in the doors, for instance, and I probably won't mind the price adder.

Thanks for any comments or ideas...
