1500lbs, 4wd, 20 inches of travel at each corner, and 200hp.... should be fun...

I riden in them a boat load of times. They are a lot of fun.....a bit pricey though. Plus you have to trailer it to wherever.

Just filled up the truck. 34 degrees. I'm starting to rethink my comment about snow wheeling.

    Thanks you guys!

@GarlicFarts Rob, I can see that Baja Bug/Razr passing a safety inspection, but it would fail on emissions testing (since most ATVS/SxS/motorcycles don't have an OBD port). But motorcycle inspections only have safety, so, it would have to registered as a motorcycle, even though it has 4 wheels. The state is not ready to handle off road vehicles as road going vehicles!
@Chasespeed My uncle bought a Kawaskai Teryx many years ago, it was my first time driving a SxS, and it was a ton of fun to drive around on trails. I was pleasantly surprised how well it handled the bumps/rocks off-road, I was thinking it was going to toss you around like a rag doll, but it was very smooth.

Me. I have spent a lot of time on the trail with (and working on) UTVs, starting with the RZR 800 my dad bought new in 2011, then the 2016 RZR 1000 S that replaced it, and my brother's Can-Am Maverick 1000 R, and UTV press loaners. I've driven all of them in basically every type of trail situation. I also wrote for UTVDriver.com for a few years and currently contribute to ATV.com, so it's a space I'm extremely familiar with.

A good UTV on the right trail is a hell of a fun time. The wrong one in sub-optimal circumstances (think 4-seater on tight trail) can be an infuriating PITA. Maybe try to rent one before you take the plunge if you haven't experienced it yet. All of my riding buddies who were on ATVs years back are now in UTVs. I'm sticking to handlebars, but have thousands of miles of riding in the company of side-by-sides. The people that love SxS machines love them. UTVs get a bad rap in the full-size wheeling community but it's almost entirely tied to the behavior of a select few that can quickly make it a "one bad apple..." type situation.

Anything specific you want to know?

    Thanks all.

So, first, I'd be snagging from the dealership my wife works at, so, I will do okay on it....

Second, it's a Can Am Maverick, X3 DS Turbo RR.. should keep me amused...

But, knowing I have to trailer it.. but, to WHERE?

That is so far the biggest hang-up...

I know AOAA at least is utv friendly, pretty sure Rausch is too. There's a bunch of stuff in NY out at tug hill plateau I believe as well

I don’t own one but have rented them on vacations. They are so much better to take off-roading than a truck. I’ve driven a Kawasaki Teryx, RZR 1000 and a CF Moto utility style 2 seater. The RZR was awesome. That was in Moab which was also awesome. You can drive them on the street to the trails. I don’t think they would be as fun in New England where there aren’t many legal places to ride. Maybe northern Maine would be fun.

I don’t own one. I looked heavily into them when I was looking at snow removal but I was in the realm of work UTV and not a fun play UTV. Once I did the math on a cab, heat, plow, UTV setup I walked away from that idea haha. I have an ATV just to ride around the house. Got it from a member here actually but it didn’t want to start the last few times and so that’s sitting now too haha. Gotta love life sometimes.

Theres Jericho and a few places in Maine too. I dont think they are worth it for me compared to a street legal crawler especially cause they technically aren't allowed on the class 4's or 6's.

Not to mention they are double the price.

Tons of riding by my house in Eustis, ME. My buddy goes riding in Jericho, Errol, and I can't remember where near the Henniker area. Certain class VI roads allowed quads and SXS but it depends on the town, normally there is clear signage. PA has a lot of trails as well

Getting anywhere good is a drive.

We frequent AOAA and Lost Trails in PA. Used to belong to a private club in the greater Albany area, and there's a few others. MA banned UTVs so can't look there.

As far as staying in the Northeast, we go to NH and/or Maine a few times a year-- Jericho/Mt. Washington area, Moosehead, Machias, etc. All good stuff but a drive long enough that it's not a day trip/ride.

Really depends what you want to do.

Have ridden 175 miles in a day up in NH... and 15 in the same amount of time in PA on the rocks / in the mud.
