Do you guys run a thicker motor oil when it's 110 outside?

    I would run 5W30 or 5W40 if I lived in that area. It's been discussed on here.

    I've heard some dealers used to not even carry 0W20.

    It's likely fine, but I agree with the thinking.

    They say you can, but all that really matters is the temperature of the oil, not the temperature of the air. In general, like coolant, it will stay in a similar operating range

    No, engine temperature is constant after warming up anyway.

    no, been using the recommended for the nearly 6 years ive had the truck. 100K+ on it now, no issues.
    Even if the air temperature is 115 F, that's still cooler than the engine/coolant temperature.
