Just got my renewal notice from Progressive and my rates increased yet again. Just wondering what others are paying in the Phoenix area? 2 drivers in my house. My 2019 Tacoma and my wife's 2015 Jetta. I do the 6 month option to get the discount and my monthly comes out to $215 a month. What I found most odd, is that the Jetta costs almost twice as much to insure vs the Tacoma.

Wife and I have GEICO, my 2018 Tacoma and her 2020 Sportage, in Glendale. I think we do the 6 month option as well and are paying about $220-$230 a month.

We switched to progressive last year, full coverage with good limits and $100 deductible on 2001 Tacoma and 2024 CRV for $146/mo.

We recently switched to Famers and they rock so far. I reluctantly used an agent but they’ve been taking care of us and we got better coverage for less. Reviews also place them near the top for customer satisfaction but I still don’t trust insurance companies.

I tried Progressive and they pulled some shady shit on one of our cars and forced additional coverage that was not requuired. Dropped their ass.

I had GEICO for 20 years and they did me dirty and tried to charge me a $1000 deductible for a windshield. It was a new to us vehicle we added to our policy and I didn’t opt in and specifically request no deductible for glass. Never again.

I looked at Allstate and reviews said they were basically worthless when it came to making a claim, so we steered clear of them.

2018 Tacoma and 2014 Kia Soul. $285 a month full coverage with glass from GEICO. The Kia cost way more than the Taco thanks to the TikTok dumbass challenge for stealing them. Had two other company’s that refused coverage when I got quotes because of that BS.

Recently switched to Progressive actually. They offered me a crazy discount of around $200/6mo to $750/6mo (~$100 prepay discount) over MetroMile when every other company would have increased to over $1100/6mo. 3 vehicles and they're not minimum coverage except one. $500 deductible, comprehensive, glass coverage, etc

Am Fam Ins guy was recently in shock when I told him what I paid

I hate insurance so much. I called into Progressive to get a policy review to see if they could do anything better. They asked me a few questions. I told them that my wife only works 2 days a week and its 20 miles round trip. They responded with "that is new information" we have to raise your rate. I'm sorry what??? I can over estimate the personal driving amount and it doesn't affect anything but if my wife has a job, it costs more? WTF?!? I hung up. Made a couple more calls and ended up back with Geico. Same coverage amounts, same deductibles, same glass coverage, and are you ready? The 6 month premium was a little over $400 less! Now its about $135 a month.

Another reason for the inquiry, Progressive wanted to raise my home insurance premium too. Another $400 per year. Nothing changed from the previous year, not even the value of my house. Geico quoted me better coverage with no increase. AND the oddest thing, both are using the SAME underwriting company.

I was curious about this. Do you have to pay the broker though?

Fuck Progressive. They tried to essential double the rate on my girlfriend’s little GLK by forcing me on the policy since we live together. That’s when we went hunting again and found Farmers. They have been a bit sketch though also. My rate keeps going up for no reason and then my broker has to go in and change it back. Pretty annoying and suspicious. Maybe I’ll go full circle back to GEICO even though they tried to fuck me on a windshield replacement. I just hate insurance companies with a passion at this point.

I'm sure I do through the premiums, but as a separate line item - no. I'm guessing (key word since insurance is a regulated industry) that the underwriter has a direct to consumer price and a price for a reseller (broker) similar to the way a manufacturer has a "pro-price" and a consumer price.

Agree 100%. Progessive probably the worst insurer. Not joking, wouldn't even use them if it was free. Wait till you have a claim and you'll find out how much they suck.

There is no info in this thread that will help you, OP. The only way to know which company will give you the best price is for you to get quotes from other companies for exactly the same coverage. What someone else pays and with whom has no relevance to what you pay.

I was more curious about the average and to see what others had been experiencing price wise. I already switched back to Geico at a better rate than what I was paying with Progressive. Appreciate everyone's input.

These insurance rates make me angry.
I use State Farm (for about 25 years now) and have a 2015 wrangler, 2019 odyssey, and a 2022 accord. Full coverage on all with a 1k deductible. I’m paying about $245/mo. A little over a year ago the same coverage was $160/mo.

Also have home owners insurance with them so there’s a little discount there.
