If you need a full size buy it. Not sure why people think people who drive midsize do it because they can’t afford a big truck. For me, unless I decided to tow a lot, I would not get full size for same price to get a bunch more of what I didn’t want. To each his own.

Too many of us silly Americans always thinking bigger is better. Not sayin' I'd necessarily buy a stripped-down base Hilux even if I could. Taco is a nice, happy medium. Too many people here buy way way more truck than they need. Carmakers and marketers have taught people to go big, big, big because they're chasing big big profits. Seems to work for Chevy and Ford but sucks for Jeep. But who the hell needs a F750 super turbo diesel whatever as a daily driver unless? Unless they have serious self esteem issues maybe...

Tacomas are very small inside. Not just about towing.
Would never ask 2 people or kids to sit in the back for an extended time.
Always take my car to the store it can carry more groceries home, that is if I dont put them in the bed to fly around.

More hip, head, and leg room than big body cars like my chevelle. Seems okay. Maybe Americans are just too big

4 door vs 2 door. At lease it wasn't a Miata for comparison.
Compare with a 4 door car.

Correct it is not just about towing, nor is it about cost either. It is about what works for you and I think ZigSchwartz is right about the marketing aspect.

The 5% time I have large people back there for any extended period of time does not outweigh 95% of the time I drive with just 2 people. Same ratio for bed size with my trips to HD or whatever.

Anybody close to 6 ft, large, will have an issue back there for a long time. Like large muscular work people.
    In my Tundra, no issues.
70K for a landscaping truck doesn't cut it.

I was either going to buy a 2024 TRD Offroad with a manual transmission, or I was going to buy a 2024 Porsche 911S with a manual transmission. One would have cost twice as much as the other, but that wasn't really important to me. I have never in my life owned an automatic transmission vehicle, with four wheels or with two. I'm not old enough to start now.

The Porsche wouldn't have been as useful to me as the Tacoma. I recently retired an 18 year old Gen2 TRD Offroad with a manual transmission. It did so many things for me for all those years. I thought of all the things that a Tacoma does, that a 911 can't.

They both have back seats. The Tacoma "can" fit three, the Porsche supposedly two. I don't care how small the backseats are in either vehicle, because this vehicle is primarily for me. That said, no adult human can ride in the back of a 911 for more than a few minutes. My dog would have loved it. My adult offspring who run from 6-0 to 6-7 in height, were all fine to ride in the back of my Gen2 Tacoma with our 70 pound labrador, and the Gen4 has the same space.

The 911 won't carry bags of cement or stacks of 4x4s or even a single sheet of plywood.

I'll get that 911 sooner or later, but I need a Tacoma.

Definitely happy with our 4th gen. Off-road premium hybrid !!! Lots of low end power to get you moving. the seats are heated, ventilated and power adjustable. Huge upgrade from my 2021 premium offroad. No complaints here. I even got used to the Prius sounds out of the engine at low speed. I just added a picture of it up in Mammoth Lakes, the trees look better with my truck being there!!
Oh so far it’s at 3740 miles. Since August 31st. The day we traded in my 2021 Tacoma

I would gladly pay more than that if the Taco had the features I want.
Too bad I can’t get an extra cab, 6 foot bed, 4wd, and a locker.

    Bummer, Toyota…..

You are abandoning the many who sleep in the bed and want the shortest platform.

    Bummer….

And for those of us who work with the truck: Being able to lay flat a 6-foot ladder in the bed is just basic!
    Bummer…

The number of people you’re describing is vanishingly small. There’s no way Toyota takes that use case seriously in planning for maximum revenue.

But you’re an air locker away from getting what you asked for in the SR5

You bet. And that’s what I’ll do. Locker and suspension. Just can’t find one.

I think another member posted that there are fewer than 300 extra cabs in the US. 50 US states. The numbers don’t look good. Yet.

No! I can wait to trade it in. Poor gas mileage, lack of a limited slip diff, no AWD. One of the worst trucks I've ever own

LOVE IT! 6spd SR 4x4. Got one complaint, the leaf springs in the rear lol. And I need to lift the rear for weight, no solutions out yet. Still great truck for the price, 37kotd
