Hey. I am new to my tacoma. I will be doing my fist oil change with it. My oem filter do not come with a gasket for the drain plug. I have an assortment of copper washers. That size would fit correct to be used for this? Thanks for the help guys. Glad to be here.

Its designed with a nylon gasket in mind, just re-use it, they can be re-used 1 or 2 times no issue.

Otherwise its a 10mm gasket the copper works.

Anything that fits on the drain plug should be fine

Has anyone found a way to make it so that the damn washer doesn't stick to the oil pan during each oil change? It's especially a pain in the ass trying to get that thing off because I have the TRD skid plate which has an opening for the drain plug but I can't really see the gasket unless I look directly under the opening on the skid which means I'll have oil dripping into my eye hole.

The gasket always sticks to my drain pan, and I just confirm it’s there by feel and pop it off with a small flat head screwdriver. It comes off easy and lands in the drain pan.

Now here’s my question, the nylon gasket seems to have two different sides. Does it matter which way it’s installed?

I use plain aluminum ones now and have no issue. My Hondas never had the blue felt attached, so I figured it would be fine for Toyotas too. Haven't had any issues.
    Here's what I'm using:
Dsnaduo 50PCS Aluminum M12 Crush Washer Oil Drain Plug Gasket Washer fit for Toyota Tacoma Tundra Camry Corolla 4Runner Scion Avalon Lexus, Replace 90430-12027 90430-12031 (22x12x1.4mm) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09PBXR5RH

On Amazon I got the aluminum with the blue coating on both sides that looks identical OEM. The scary issues with many of these after markets is that the bolt becomes loose
as the blue material softens with heat, sometimes to finger tightness. I will try DTaco18 route and go with the all aluminum ones that should work and is a great price for 50 washer....then there is the dealership.

Change to a Fumoto valve next oil change and never worry about your washer again

Just go to a dealer and get a bunch of proper oem gaskets. Might be a few bucks or may be for free. That's one thing I like to make sure works and fits.

If you are near a dealer. I know I know, many people have awful time with dealer. My local one is legit . The parts guys are super cool and super helpful. I got a bunch of gaskets for all the different parts.

Fuck Amazon. That guy doesn't need any more money

Go to a locally owned parts store and buy a washer assortment. It'll cost about the same as 2 drinks from Starbucks

Are you talking about the oil pan drain plug gasket or the oil filter housing drain plug gasket? The latter is an O-ring that should be included with the filter.

For the oil pan drain plug gasket, I've been using Dorman 12mm / 1/2" copper gaskets P/N 65271 for several years with good results. Doesn't stick to the pan, and no leaks on either of my Toyotas. It's available at most auto parts stores:

That's exactly what happened to me. Bought OEM washers on Amazon. Looked good and packaging seemed authentic. Found a couple finger tight with the blue coating oozing out the sides. Threw them in the trash. Now I'll only use dealer purchased OEM or non-coated aluminum or copper.
