    @0xDEADBEEF

    I hope you don't have to replace a starter on your GX but if you do I suggest you -

    Drain your radiator, and drain the block (use the driver side drain, there's one on each side)

    DO remove the coolant bypass pipe that goes over the starter; it along with the wire harness gives you almost no clearance to get the rear starter bolts out

    DO purchase two gaskets for the bypass pipe you removed, they're one-time use only

    DO purchase misc vacuum lines like that for the PCV and a few others

    DO use a ton of rags to not only block the ports on your heads but also to capture the coolant you'll lose from disconnecting your heater core as well as the two fuel lines on the driver side

    I just need to put her back together now or at the very least get the starter bolted in place and the intake manifold upper/lower back on.

    I would say that the starter gearing was worn out. Now, you can feel good about getting to the root cause of the problem. If that hose was the only casualty, then you are doing great!

    No. My damn starter's terminal was broken and I didn't even notice it cause I didn't take it out until now

    Fuck me

    It's this plug (old starter)

    Good to know! Thank you! I had heard about the starters on the 2uz. Seems like they live longer, but are worse to replace.

    I'm about 6 hours in, just trying to get some nuts back on but keep dropping them behind the motor.

    I've had mine break before. I grabbed a big piece of shrink tube and push the connectors back together and then shrunk the tube back onto it as a good mechanical means of holding it together

    @Speedytech7
    @CS_AR

    Am I losing my mind cause I can't find anything to plug into this port on my thermostat housing?

    20241214_205543.jpg

    It looks like the coolant temperature sensor NEXT to it but I don't recall disconnecting anything there?

    That appears to be the one they use for the gauge. Maybe see if it snapped off in the wire popped back into the loom

    That was my thought, the sender being a single wire plug.

    I couldn't find anything unplugged or dangling anywhere from the harness, driving me nuts.

    Well, I don't own as many tools as I used to

    My back hurts

    And I have less free time

    But making the GX "not stock" is what, bolt ons you can do in a day? Are you referring to going long travel or?...
