I went through that over the TPS plug cracking up on me.

 

It's knock sensor number two. Is that the one underneath the manifold? P0330 is the code I pulled for knock sensor #2.

I was careful with both plugs in the valley, guess not careful enough

Edit: Yep, looking up a diagram both 1 and 2 are in the valley with #2 being on the passenger side, and #1 being on the driver side.

Looks like I'll have to pull off the manifold again one of these days. I ain't doing that shit today.

So, would you take pictures of how you're able to do this without pulling the manifold off

How do you get it plugged back in?

 

Just a few minutes ago, Andrew snaked his hand under the lower intake and to start the KS bolt and finger tighten it. Once the bolt was started, then I take a long 1/4 drive extension with a universal joint and a 12mm to tighten it down. I hook up the knock sensor to the harness before we slide it under the intake to bolt it down. I wanted to get this done before le leaves for CA tomorrow. There is no way that I can do this with my XL glove size hands.

If the manifold is off, easy peasy. But I'd expect an open ended wrench if you've got it plugged in first and then you try to tighten it?

I'll try it tomorrow, car's hot right now and I'm tired

Worst case I'm buying a knock sensor connector from Rock Auto and might go at pulling the entire manifold upper/lower sometime in the next few weeks. Don't want to do it again anytime soon.

 

Figuring that I would have a KS problem, I replaced both when I had it open.

 

Nissan has a whole different KS design. I think Toyota may have adopted this microphone design in later years.

When I installed new knock sensors in the 5VZ over 5 years ago, I think I used SMP Intermotor that I most likely bought from Rock Auto. Toyota OEM knock sensors are crazy expensive -even with me finding them at 30% off.

 

I think I figured out a way to test a Toyota KS before installation. I dropped and ruined a Nissan KS roughly 10 years ago. I didn't realize it was bad until after I had gone through the pain of installing it.

 

Apparently this is not the type of switch that turns on at 25 and off at 50, it keeps it at whatever pressure you have it set to... don't think I like that much

Anyone with 2GR experience ever dealt with a P0441 and P0455 cel?
They’re evap codes, already replaced the vacuum lines, gas cap and evap purge valve to no avail..
Driving me insane

Ordered it, a knock sensor and some weird connector/controller part.

Figured if I'm going back in, I'll replace knock sensors and wiring as well.

Then I can implement Zane's method for the heatshrink on the connector for the starter.
