I plan to get the N2 remote start soon and I'm wondering if anyone can answer this?

When you use it with non-takeover, what does the climate control system do? Does it use auto climate control? Does it heat/cool to a set temp? Does it heat/cool to the last setting in the truck?

last setting in the truck - so in the winter, I leave the truck in full blast heat mode, and in summer full blast AC.

You probably already know but remote starting your truck as stated above is true with last setting but Tacomas don’t actually warm up until you drive the truck then they warm up pretty quick. Remote starting is good for getting the fluids to operating temps and your heated seat to get warm but my heater doesn’t warm up until I drive it. Your mileage may vary .

if you max out the heat - full fan, full temp - and the ambient air is low enough (below freezing? I forget the exact number) then it triggers the electric cabin heater so the truck interior gets real hot, real quick instead of waiting for the engine to warm up. That's regardless of remote starting, so I pre-set the full heat when I set the remote start reserve mode. Toyota thought this one through for us up north despite not giving us OEM remote start

What? My wife's 2023 Tacoma must be malfunctioning, because even at -29 F she starts it with the remote to soften or melt the ice on the windshield and windows, before she drives it. During the coldest days of winter my Tundra's heater is set at full hot, and the fan to on dot before full speed. Her Tacoma's environmental control is set to 69-70 degrees, air flow mode to the floor/driver and passenger, and fan to one step before the full mark.

Set the truck's heater controls to hot (70 degrees or so), and airflow direction to the floor/and driver's/passenger's chest, and fan to almost full speed. when you start your tacoma the next day, the heater will warm the cab for you. You can set the airflow direction to defrost the windshield, but if you leave it that way too long the hot air it can crack the windshield. This happened to me with a 2009 Forester while driving through a neighborhood in Fairbanks, Alaska. It made a loud popping noise, and a crack extended from left to right about 3 inches above the base of the windshield.

I like a nice and warm cab before I drive my vehicles, instead of stepping in the cab and drive ahead blowing -20-degree air on my face.
