Got off my ass and worked on my Sig Cross today... took it out back at the beginning of 2023, broke in the barrel, shot a half minute group, then came home and stuck it in the safe.
It shot great but all these tiny little complaints added up, a little too light and jumpy, lame muzzle brake, mag release sucked, couldn't quite get it comfortable with the grip it had...

So I accumulated a bunch of parts over the past year+ ... "oh, that'd be really nice to fix that Cross..." and yet it remained a safe queen. Got a mount for my can that worked with the taper barrel, an extended mag release, a hand-me down Nightforce, a cheek pad for it, etc.
Got sick of "someday" and gave it a once over and a rattle can paint job today.

Not sure if I'm gonna keep that scope mount for this rifle but it's lookin pretty sweet!

    Looks great

Reminds me that one of these days I need to order a chassis for my defiance action and finally finish my 300 PRC build

Ooh, those actions are really sweet!!

Right now I have a bog standard Stainless R700 action off getting blueprinted so I can make a .223 "PRS-Like" gun. Wanted to get out of my comfort zone of building AR-15's, turns out Remington 700's aren't any less complex and there's a lot of spooky fudd magic that isn't particularly well documented.

I've eyed those darn Impact 737 actions lustfully, but I told myself I gotta get into the habit of actually going long range shooting before I get one.

Same - Reminds me that come tax time I need to snag a complete lower for a 458 Socom upper.
Sad thing is I have seen more complete lowers that cost more than a full rifle. Would be cheaper to buy another AR and then toss the 223 upper in the safe. There doesn't seem to be a plethora of cheap lowers any more - just the gucci'd out ones.

Looking to make the Socom my new camp gun since I gave the 30-30 to my Uncle. Wanted something a little bit punchier for bears when camping up on the rim.

Stuff that costs more than my wife thinks.
Reminds me that I'm just glad I don't live in California. :quickdraw:

I'm not sure if we were supposed to keep it going or not, but I'm in.

    - Timing belt believed to be replaced around 2018-2019
    - No record on water pump

Trust no one...100% these will need to be done with OE parts...not a difficult job, just time consuming. I'd also do [proper iridium] spark plugs and even coils if they're cracked. Also the 2UZ loves to leak from the valve covers (and half moons), so check that, too. LBJs might also need to be replaced with OE parts.

Everything he said, I did my timing belt and it took 6-8 hours and was my first time @246k I think it cost under$600 with parts from Lexus
The best thing about that truck he is looking at is it doesn't have the Navi system so upgrading the headunit and sound system will be easy like any other vehicle. That and 05 was the highest output engine of the 2uzs so kinda a unicorn truck.

    Yep...282 million mile ponies!

IIRC, trans is the 5 speed A750F vs the pre-05 4 speed, another plus...

lol I’m something of a professional penny pincher till it comes to those things. If I had the equipment and space to powder coat and rust-bullet my own frame I’d do it.

I may get down to the Titan Missile Museum soon ... the only installation that was not disassembled and parted-out completely.
