What I don’t get is how or where it sat for at least a year and a half. For comparative purposes, my truck only had 20 miles on it when my dad bought it, 4 miles than this truck!

Still not worth that price, even with a long bed.

2025 will be here soon enough.
And I think by the 3rd quarter of the year, you’ll be safe buying a 4th Gen.
You can into an SR5 w/tow package for less than $45k. (I might have looked a one ;))

    P.S. I didn’t buy it. I didn’t even test drive it.
I don’t waste salesmen time. But he did open the doors and let me have a look.

Also FWIW, I’m still leaning towards full-size , if and when.

Or I could just keep mine, not have payments, and keep saving up for a down payment on a house!

    My truck won’t last forever.
And I’ve been eyeing a sub-compact tractor for personal and “side hustle” use.
The Tacoma doesn’t like a 16’ foot trailer and tractor with FEL and bushhog.

We do have few here on TW that know their way around boost and the 1GR.
I was kind of thinking maybe keep the Tacoma and buy a used F250 gasser. Maybe a GM gasser.

Hard to go wrong with a used 6.0L/4L80 GM thing tbh, one of the best combos. I did just squeeze 405 horsepower and 482 lb of torque at the wheels out of my first gen though... So there's something to be said for the turbo route as well

My Truck had 1 Mile on it when I bought it, it was pretty awesome seeing the Odometer that low.

All the 6.0 trucks around here a beat.
And if they aren’t, they are expensive.
    The L80s were good transmission.

    As for the Tacoma.
I think the A750 starts to get “tired” once you hit the 400whp mark.

    Plus, I know me.
If I went through all that trouble to slap boost on it.
Might as well use all the boost. And that means “more money”.

And then there’s the fact I don’t “like” turning wrenches.
I only do it to save myself money.

Remember that mine has a new frame, new brake lines, new fuel lines, new rear springs, new LCAs, and a replacement transmission with less than 30K miles on it; maybe it won’t last forever, but it’ll probably come pretty damn close! Literally the only things wrong with it right now are…

    • Burns a little over a quart of oil roughly every 3,500-4,000 miles.
    • Brake/shift interlock no longer works and truck can be shifted out of park freely, no only without a foot on the brake, but without the key in the ignition.
    • Aftermarket Bluetooth doesn’t always work properly.

Pretty much all Ford trucks around here that are more than a decade old are beat, PERIOD. The 1999-2007 Super Duties here in Southeast PA rust worse than Tacomas, and among other things the bed supports tend to rot out, so it is very common to see trucks of that era with the beds sitting lower on the frame than the rest of the body!

I feel for you guys, lots of mint cat eye GMT800s left on the road here, perfect mix of cheap and reliable for someone in need of something larger.

Aside from the frame, my truck has not really rusted; I feel like that was a manufacturer defect more than the result of 12 years of Pennsylvania winters. I have NEVER seen a 2nd Gen Taco with significant body rot/rust!
