This may be a dumb question, but I'm chasing a TPMS light. Do all second gens have a sensor in the spare? The one that came with my 2006 did, but the wheel is so badly rusted i found a new to me spare in much better shape and swapped it out. I believe it came off of a 2014 model, but now my TPMS light is steady on. I'm wondering if the truck is either looking for the original sensor and that is tripping the light and I need to associate the sensor in the spare with the truck, or there is no sensor in the new spare. Thoughts?

Ok, that's it then - that's good to know. Its still trying to locate the one from my spare, its been driving me nuts. Is this something a tire shop can delete from the system or do i need to have them swap / add a sensor to my spare?

Yes, a tire shop should have the ability to scan your existing sensors and program them back into the ECU which should turn off the light again.

Pretty sure you'll need to add a sensor on the spare

It varies year by year. I think early years had the 5th TPMS sensor, later did not. My '06 also had one, just had it replaced a few weeks ago when I got new tires. Got an OEM Denso off of RockAuto and had Discount Tire install and program.

You need 5 sensors on an 06. I think the last year was 08 or 09. After that only the 4 on the ground have sensors.

Typical life of a TPMS sensor is 7 years give or take (depends on usage, stationary sensor in the spare lasts longer). You'd need to get a new sensor mounted in the tire and have it programmed in if you want the light extinguished.

What's the date code on your replacement spare tire? If it's factory original from 2014, that tire's tread compound would be hard as a hockey puck and needs to be replaced as well.
