Kind of my thought with it as well - I'm afraid of fixing the warp and creating a bigger one elsewhere, or creating an oblong hoop by tightening and loosening too much in one area. Practice is the only way to get on top of it, but my bandwidth these days to practice on things is rather small with all the other obligations in life.

    Yeah.
I've used zip ties on the forks and chainstays to do minor adjustments. I built a front fat bike wheel once, so I did buy a spoke tension gauge. I actually got it pretty true using the zip tie method, but fat bike wheels are a lot more forgiving.

Bought one for me and a Christmas present. You guys better use the coupon before they take it down. Labomba is currently 50% off and the coupon stacks.

Edit: and they've already fixed website where you cannot stack coupons.

Recently traded my long in the tooth 2nd gen for a new-ish 3rd gen TRDOR. On the 2nd gen i had been using my 1up hitch mount for years and it pretty much lived on the back of the truck permanently. But with the rear camera and sensors of the 3rd gen, i thought i'd try something different. My retractable cover has slots so i installed Rhino Rack crossbars and a Yakima highroller over the bed. So far i like this setup although hoisting the bike up isn't quite as convenient as slapping it on the hitch, especially the 40lb DH rig, but the 25lb XC whip is just fine. Would definitely not be usable for a full power ebike either but im not in that game yet.

Got a chance to finally check out the new jump line the city is building at a park. Looks great so far. Can’t wait to see the Expert line finished up. No riding from me, too soft and muddy from rain.

I'd rather lose top speed in favor of climbing ability. Other than riding down a road to a trail on the bike, I don't think I am ever in the hardest gear on the trail. More often than not, I'm in the eagle gear on a climb and really wished I had another gear to grab.

I've been behind you on climbs and I'm calling bullshit! The Eagle gear is the big one on the back, not 2 or 3 down!

For those of you that ride in the cold a couple of questions.
    1. What is too cold? I don't think I really want to be out in anything under 40 but maybe in the upper 30s?
    2. Any tips for layering? Layering in Florida means I am wearing long pants and socks. LOL

Too cold for me is around the 0 mark. We set off last weekend at 15-20 degrees. At that temp, I wore normal 5 7 shoes but vinyl upper, not canvas, darn tough heavy winter socks, insulated Rock Bros pants, insulated poly-blend underlayer, wool mid layer and an insulated Ketl shell. I wore a neck warmer, hat under my helmet and Fox winter gloves. It was a hilly area so i planned on the terrain warming me up. I would ha e dressed heavier for a gravel ride in those temps.

I won’t be out in those temps! For 40s (maybe upper 30s) I was thinking Handup pants, just a regular chammy, merino underlayer top, sweatshirt like upper, wind breaker. Shoes and socks should be good. Might need to get a heavier set of gloves. Wanted to confirm I wasn’t missing anything vital.

I’ll be in VA for a few weeks and want to get some riding in. I was just in Minnesota/NW Wisconsin. Shit was -7 without the windchill. Not a chance I am riding in that. Hopefully won’t see that again this year at least.

For me, fingers and toes are what I have to look after the most. I have winter shoes that are a size up so I can wear thicker socks and not cut circulation. Next big thing is moisture management. I sweat a lot, even at those temps so I need to dress for the trail not the parking lot. Nothing cotton, moisture wicking poly or wool blends.
In the 40’s though, I’m wearing wind breaker bottoms, uninsulated, a long sleeve compression shirt and a poly t-shirt over it. 40-60 is my ideal riding weather!

Handup makes great cold weather gloves. They have two options, Cold and ColdEr. I have both, they work great for what they are.
My cold weather limit is 30s. I don't like riding below that, mostly because I've eaten shit on frozen sections.
I wear those gloves, ski socks, riding pants, a thin long sleeve, a very breathable mid-layer, and a shell. Start cold, you'll be warm as soon as your heart rate goes up.
When I lived in CO, I could ride local 80%+ of the year. In UT, not so much. You really need to work for it here as anything that doesn't have snow on it is at about 45m out for mellow trails, and 3+ hrs for the desert. I'd rather drive 20m and go snowboarding/skiing.

I try to not let cold weather deter my ability to ride - I have the trainer but it becomes a burden as the season rolls on. As Pugga said, we tend to go regardless of temperature and dress appropriately. Biggest thing is always fingers and toes; once I warm up (assume 15 minutes of riding) it takes about 20 minutes for the warm blood to make it to the extremities and the pain goes away - use long johns, a neoprene shirt, windbreaker jacket, wind resistant pants, thick wool socks, neck gator, etc. I have a lot of different cold weather gloves and socks that do a pretty good job - also switch out the pedals to flats in the winter so I do not have the cold metal on my foot or worry about ice freezing up and sticking within the cleat.

Biggest issue always comes down to water bottles freezing up and slush freezing in the bike mechanicals. On more than one occasion the fat bike has turned into a single speed with a frozen derailleur.

    not enough.
for me, if i see 40s I may or may not reconsider. 40s with sun? it's probably fine. 40s with clouds? no go. but that's on the rare occasion in the winter. I don't have time after work to ride and weekends, I'm skiing. :/ as for layering, I make sure to have my base layers for skiing on. but you quickly warm up so shed an outer layer and ill be fine.

yeah, UT introduces unique riding challenges if you really want it. lol. but meh, not worth it. then there's fat biking....

Where in Virginia are you gonna be? It was a perfect 54 degrees on my ride today. Too wet for MTB but I was just happy I didn’t need to do a trainer ride haha. I think the temperature is dropping leading up to Christmas
