Needing to pick your collective brain here... 2019 TRD Offroad, crew cab V6. Right turn signal only works when I have the brake pedal depressed. If I'm not pressing on the brake, the turn signal light comes on once and the turn signal does not work. If i let off the brake pedal, the turn signal stops working. Maybe connected... my right trailer light stays on all the time if my trailer is plugged in. Just got the truck back from the dealer today after recall work being done. I asked them to diagnose the turn signal and they told me they needed to replace my entire Guage cluster... for >$900! Said there is a short in the cluster that is causing the issue. I might remotely believe that IF... the turn signal did not work if the brake pedal was depressed but it does. Service guy said the signal purposely stops working to prevent further issues with the cluster. The short in the Guage cluster makes no sense. Paid $75 for them to tell me that. Any thoughts on what might be going on here. I've replaced the taillight bulbs. Checked the trailer wiring for breaks or shorts and found nothing.

Certainly plausible, the Combination Meter (Gauge Cluster) controls the vehicle turn signals as well as the trailer stop/turn signals on 3rd gen trucks. Don't ask me why Toyota did it this way but that's how it is.

Unfortunately they do not give alot of info on how it works and the logic when a problem occurs, there is 2 possible codes relating to the turn signal circuits but all they give is a bunch of resistance check nonsense to diagnose them. No description and operation, action taken when codes set, or anything like that.

If it turns out to be the cluster there are outfits that do speedometer work. One is Commercial Speedometer in Sacramento, CA 916-371-5873. Maybe out of your area.

Remove the cluster: pull out the trim(s), unscrew (x4) disconnect harness (x2).
Remove the cluster cover on back and take a look.

I am interested in knowing if this has been fixed and what the issue was. My turn signals hyper flash when I press my brake pedal. I’ve chased every possible solution except replacing this gage cluster.

Unlikely you will get a response. The OP has not been back to this site since this thread went up.

Have you installed any aftermarket lights or bulbs? If so I would start there and uninstall.

Hi! Update: Replacing the gauge cluster fixed the issue. Bought a used cluster off of ebay for $100. Was literally a 5 minute fix following the instructions above. I did not notice any burned contacts or anything on the board upon inspection of the old gauges. Hope this helps! Brian

    Absolute Kudos for the resolution!

One question: Did your odometer change with the replacement cluster? I understand the milage of a vehicle is still stored in the speedometer, just like vehicles of old.

I bought a cluster that was close to the mileage that was on the truck... so wasn't really an issue. The mileage stays with the cluster... not in the vehicle computer.
