    I work for a software company as a QA, so this is the kind of thing that’s in my bailiwick. It’s not really a mystery. I looked at it. It’s a pretty straightforward script. Toyota has a webservice that the app calls, which it then takes the data that service returns, massages it, and publishes a spreadsheet. The webservice needs various filtering criteria sent to it, like model and dealer code. I’m not sure where they got the list of dealer codes, but it’s not complete. The dealer I bought my truck from isn’t included, for instance. I figured out what my dealer’s dealerCode was and made the calls to the service myself to try it out. If you can figure out some of the missing codes, it could be expanded. It didn’t tell me anything their website didn’t directly, though.

    That said, I talked to the author about it. He says Toyota is moving to a different system anyway, so kissmygrits really is on borrowed time. He’s not really interested in putting much more effort into it.

    If you guys get a bunch of the missing dealer info together, I’d be willing to update the source data sheet his script uses and submit a pull request. If the author accepts it, that’ll get it improved, at least until Toyota shuts the old service down.

    Thanks for offering. It would definitely be good if KMG included 2025's for each of the models it pulls (Taco, 4Runner, Tundra, Rav4, Landcruiser). Maybe that will happen automatically but I'm not sure.

    As far as the mystery part, maybe an example would help. I was emailing a local dealer's salesperson and he sent me a VIN for a Tacoma they had incoming in the next couple days (it was just awaiting truck freight from CA at that time) that was close but not exactly what I was looking for. This VIN did not appear in the KMG database until 5 days later, and it was sold the day before that. It was already at the dealership and listed as in-stock on their website a few days before it finally appeared in KMG. So it's a mystery why it wasn't in the KMG database when the dealer, presumably also using a Toyota database but apparently a different one, knew it was incoming but KMG didn't.

    PS I don't have any issues with missing dealers (all my local dealers are included).

    I’d have to go look at the script again to see what models are targeted.

    I have noticed the same thing you did in regards to dealers saying they had something incoming and it not showing up in KMG. I’m pretty sure this is one of the differences between the old webservice interface and whatever the dealers use internally. My truck didn’t show up in KMG until it was actually on the lot but was on their website as “Being built” or “in transit” almost as long as they had the allocation. At no point did anything indicate that it was already spoken for, as I’d already put a deposit on it. I suspect that’s because the system doesn’t have any actual mechanism to indicate something is “sold” until it’s literally been transacted to a new owner. That’s probably intentional; it makes it look like they have more inventory available than they actually do so you’ll engage the dealer, maybe show up and be primed to receive the hard sell on something actually available. That and they’re in no way actually obligated to not sell a vehicle you’ve put a deposit down on out from under you. If they do, they’ll give your deposit back and you’ll be pissed you off so you’ll buy from somebody else. Not like that’s ever stopped a shady dealer from being shady. They got whatever benefit they saw in doing it.

    EDIT: I took another look a the script. Right now, it doesn't capture MY25 vehicles of any kind, but does pick up several different models:

    "filter": {
    "year": [2023, 2024],
    "series": ["tacoma", "4runner", "tundra", "rav4", "landcruiser"],
    "dealers": ["'$i'"],
    "andfields": ["accessory", "packages", "dealer"]
    }

    It could be amended to pick up '25's very easily. This does operate on the premise that anybody would care, as the data is incomplete and only covers cars actually on lots right now (based on my observations, anyway).

    I'd most definitely appreciate if you could mod the script to pick up the 2025's (and no need to retain 2023).

    While it's incomplete, it probably picks up 80% or better, of what's available on any given day. It's another tool to help us potential buyers have info most other buyers don't have, and/or to not have to rely exclusively on a particular salesperson to provide information for you.

    I just read that. I did not see anything about colors other than Mudbath for Pro, I see a Mudbath Sequioa every now and again. I might have overl ooked the color options, I started skimming over things. I see their are now red tow hooks on the the TH and Pro.

    I put in a pull request to update the script to drop MY23 and add MY25. If the author approves it, I'll merge it and it'll start including the new ones next time the schedule scrape happens.

    Too similar to Celestial Silver Metallic? I don't understand Supersonic Red being a premium color.

    Cutting Edge didn't even make it to all trims of the 2025 4runner. I think they use a Magic 8-ball to choose the (non-white, non-black) colors and what proportions and regions they distribute them to. It makes little sense.

    I'm not quite sure what delay you mean, but there's a fair bit of time in the transport phase (weeks). A local dealer told me that trucks built at the Guanajuato plant, which is a lot farther south and inland, takes around 2 weeks longer (compared to Baja) just to get to the port of Long Beach, then they get sorted to trucks and another several days to a week to get to eastern US dealers. So the first 2025's, apparently hitting some western dealers this week, will all probably be from the Baja factory. I think they stopped building 2024's about 3 weeks ago, but there are still 2024's in the transportation pipeline, landing at dealers.

    OK ..... I could be mistaken ..... I thought the "normal" roll out of a new MY would be around Sept. or Oct.
    So you're saying this is right on "schedule" ? My bad ..... thanks for the response.
