Christmas came early this year! I was driving home after my shift at UPS, and spotted this central A/C unit in the driveway of a house, next to an HVAC truck; I could tell it was an older Ducane even from a distance and assumed it must be getting replaced, so I immediately turned around and went back. I talked to one of the techs doing the replacement, and he said that he was technically not allowed to let me take it, but he was going back into the house to do some work and would simply tell his supervisor that someone had taken it out of the driveway while he was inside the house…

    ***Wink wink, nudge nudge***

He even let me use his handtruck!

Not even a mile from the house where I scored the Ducane, I found this GE window A/C unit sitting curbside. Like I said, Christmas came early!

If I am reading the data sticker properly, the Ducane is a 2.5-ton unit from 2009…

Some of the older Ducane units, like this one, resemble roughly 2001-2005 Goodman units. I don’t know long this has been the case, but Ducane is presently a subsidiary of Allied Air Enterprises, which in turn is owned by Lennox. My friend’s mom had a Ducane gas grill with the exact same emblem as this air-conditioner, so I’m guessing Ducane was bought out at some point…

There is a City outside of Pittsburgh called Duquesne, it's pronounced the way that appears. One day l was downtown with a buddy and a drunk guy approached and kept mumbling something about Duquesne. Finally l said we are not from there and he angrily said he was asking if we Do 'Caine", not if we were from there, lol.
