Evap purge valve ticking

I’ve been chasing this noise for so long, and have been fighting it as it sounds like lifter tick but isn’t. It’s the little tiny valve on the drivers side that controls the evap purging. I just recently bought a new valve and it still sits and clicks, anywhere above 15inhg it’ll start ticking rapidly and on road trips it gets unbearable. 3rz with headers intake and read to SC but I don’t know what to do. I know it wasn’t there when I got the truck and I can’t seem to shake the noise, if I unplug it it stops but I don’t want to drive with it unplugged. Help? Just did a new gas tank with all new seals and got rid of all my evap leaks. New hoses as well

no, they aren’t supposed to. It didn’t do it when I got it, and they sure as hell didn’t out of the factory as no one would put up with it.

 

I just watched a video and now I’m starting to overthink a bit and it might be pinging? It’s been doing it for almost 10k miles tho I wouldn’t think my motor would be alive anymore if it was… also the spark plugs are all healthy and no ghost white at all. Also AFRs stay at 14.7 until

 

My OE unit doesn't but I hear (ha!) that it's not uncommon with OEM/aftermarket units. How loud and how often is it clicking?

 

at any point under load and I can put my ear up to the valve and hear ticking noises. But now I’m slightly scared that it could be pinging…. My AFRs have been perfect tho even since I did my headers. Wouldn’t pinging have killed my motor by now?

 

You running a supercharger?

ETA: If so, put some "real" gas in it and see if it goes away.

 

I’m going to be running a SC LCEngineering has them on order but still about 10 weeks out. And I currently run 91 no ethanol anyways as I have a higher flow fuel pump long tubes catless and intake. Figured it wouldn’t hurt and 91 is cheap around my area.

 

Ahh, yeah, I am considering their new SC when it's available. I hear they are finishing up testing.

Anyway, I have LCE headers and LCE exhaust on my 2.7 and I it changed nothing from a fuel standpoint. I doubt you have pinging.

 

Well that’s good to hear, and I’ll be running the low boost kit and making a thread on instal and how it goes. 4 bands is pricey I hope it’s worth it.

 

Do you have an exhaust leak? These motors are not silent, you may just be overthinking it. If you have no issues under power, rock on.

 

No I don’t belive it’s an exhaust leak but maybe. Ima retorque the exhaust studs maybe one is loose or something
