Hey guys.. I tried to put my 2010 trd sport into 4 hi today and the light just keeps blinking no matter what I do. I use 4x4 pretty regularly.. used it for a few hours on saturday while wheeling, and have never had this problem before. It seems like the actuator is completely shot. Doesnt make any noise, and the 4x4 light keeps blinking no matter if i turn the switch back to 2. Tried driving forward, reverse, turning.. everything I can think of. Even got under the truck and lubed all the zerk fittings on the drive shafts and put dielectric grease on all the electrical connections on the actuator.

Anyone have any advise or similar issues? I have 25k miles on my truck and take REALLY good care of it. Pretty pissed that if I had 11k more miles on it I'd have to pay for it myself. 36k mile warranty is pretty shitty compared to most other car companies' 60k-100k warranty

only deep water was the same shit everyone else went through at rausch, and that wasnt deep.

And I did check the fuse (only one that I know of for 4x4 is behind the change door in the dash, shouldnt be another one right?)

yea that was the shifter indicator.. I believe just because my aux back up lights made the truck think it was in reverse and drive at the same time. I dont usually have them on while driving.

I unplugged all the wires and they were dry and clean looking, but I put dielectric grease on them anyway. the switch doesnt do anything at all. nothing makes a sound. I can put the switch to any position with out it making any difference

Josh, maybe it's the dashboard switch itself. Try meeting up with someone and swapping out switches for a quick diagnosis. Just a thought. See what happens when I don't go to a meet and you do??????

I ended up getting the company to come up quite a bit with the pay. Put in my two weeks notice with my current company and am starting on May 2nd with the new. Can't wait.

I took the switch off and took it apart, everything looks to be in excellent condition and I doubt the switch would work enough to make the 4x4 light start blinking, but not make it engage. everything I've read points to the 4x4 actuator. Cant take it to toyota till next week though because I am getting tires saturday (as long as they are here on time)

Congrats on the job! I'm real happy for you Mike!

Yea, I wasn't thinking about the light blinking. I must've missed the post. What tires are you getting?

Thanks, I'm really excited and feel so much less stress already. Planning on going out for a celebratory drink (or two, or six) one night soon.
