Badlands Apex 12,000lb winch in an ARB bumper. Anybody do this?

I'm looking at a good deal on a HF Badlands Apex 12000lb winch. I'm not sure if this will fit in my ARB bumper.

I have a Warn 8000lb winch that needs some parts. I'd be looking at roughly the same price to fix the Warn as to buy the Badlands.

I can't find any information on if this fits a first gen ARB. Plenty of info on 2nd and 3rd gen fitting this winch.

Does anyone have this winch in this ARB bumper? What did it take to fit it?

I doubt it would fit, I dont know why they had to change the bodies on the winches to make all bulky. And im not sure on the apex but with the old ones and like the warns you can clock the sides and position the lever however which way you want.

Edit: might as well go with a smitty built if your on a budget.

HF is having a 40% off sale. I wouldn't mind the 10000lb model but I really want the synthetic rope.

That'll be a tight fit but if it fit in mine with a little modification then I reckon it will fit in an ARB too...

I'm thinking it will fit too. I'm just unsure of what will need to be modified to get it to work.

I saw your install in another thread. Looks like a tight fit!

I have the measurements for the winch. I guess I need to go measure inside the bumper.

Yeah there's no space spared really, I managed to shove the solenoid in the bumper off to the right of the winch though and cram all the wiring in. Clutch lever was the only real work to make fit

Went and measured the inside of the bumper. I've got about 27" wide and a little over 7" between the mounts and the radiator. So, theoretically it should fit if I mount the solenoids elsewhere. Can you clock the clutch lever so it would point down? I could probably mount the solenoids on top of the bumper.

I didn't look into clocking the clutch lever since I didn't have room forward or underneath. It might be possible but no guarantees

If I can't clock it, it will not fit.

I basically need the clutch lever to be coming out of the back of the winch, as pictured.

On both of my trucks I have the control box in the engine bay. Looks super clean.

From what I can gather, this winch is not clockable. I guess that makes this a no go with my bumper.

Looks like you can clock the lower end 12k winch though, maybe use that and buy the synthetic rope?

if the ARB is like mine in the 2nd gen the APEX badlands cant be clocked, might be worth looking into something like the 9500, from someone like Ironman4x4 they often are on sale some they aren't as cheap but can be clocked and the box is not attached directly to the winch body. got my 12k ironman, for $700, the 9.5k was like $600 so that was a no brainer for me.

I’m no a fan of HF winch. I was using a smittybilt gen2 on my trailer and moved it to my other truck when I got a steel bumper. Bought a HF 9 or 10k winch as a replacement for the trailer. Oh boy, talk about regret. This sucker struggle and you can hear it whine.

Hopefully they gotten better with the designed and longevity of usage.
