Odd instrument panel display?

I was curious why both light indicators are on when only my fog lights are on? I thought it was probably a quirk but I had a loaner today, when the dealer did something to my car, and I checked it to see if it did the same ..... it did not.

Mine is a 18 TRD Sport and the loaner was a 18 SR5.

Could it be because mine was originally titled in Canada? Or is it because I haven't don ethe tune yet?

 

Not sure about Canada, but my Sport has to have low beams or driving lights on for the fog lights to be on.

 

My truck looks like that, one for lights and one for Fogs..

 

Are you certain the running lights aren't on with fog lights?

 

Pretty sure it’s a Canada thing. Means tail lights or DRL’s are on. Don’t really pay attention to it.

 

This is ONLY when fog lights are on by themselves, other than DRL which are always on, but the panel shows fog lights and headlights.

Your headlight indicator is one with just DRL? So your headlight indicator on any time the truck is running?

 

So I just checked mine.
First picture no lights.
Second picture head light on.
Third picture head lights and fog lights on.

On my truck there is nothing telling me on the dash that DRL or running lights are on.

 

Sorry. Daytime running lights and side markers can be mixed up or interchangable depending on who you ask.
Side marker indicator are the first flick up on on stalk , and the headlights are second flick.

 

From where on Earth did you conjure such information?

 

My 2016 has Auto headlights. My turn signal switch looks like the picture on this link. The inner ring turns the Fog lights on or off. The outer ring has 4 positions. Off, Auto, Driving/Running lights on, Headlights forced on.

The bulb comes on anytime you have day light or headlights on, and the one up comes on during fog lights. High beams have separate, that's how it is on my SR5 at least

 

I had a real snarky and sarcastic comment all typed out, since the last time I dropped “RTFM” it didn’t go well, but decided against it. It is the holidays after all

 

same is true for my 2020 SR5 in the states I have those indicators (US version) and they can be on together. I can turn on the DRL's at any time. then taillights and side markers are one click more, one more and the head lights are on. the fog lights operate with a separate switch on the stalk. I believe in Canada you can't Turn off the DRL's, they are on if the vehicle is on at all times when the headlights are not on.

That is not what is happening with mine. As I stated in the original post, when there is nothing but the fog lights on, the dash shows both fog lights and headlights on.

Damn third world countries.
