HAHAHAHA, I have never gotten that impression of this site, ever. There are certainly plenty of folks here that aren't modding their truck, but there are also a LOT of modding and upgrade threads started every day.

"babying a truck" and "keeping the revs away from that 'red' zone" are very different. I have heard my share of scraping my skid plates over rocks I did not expect in the road/trail, but when I have to rev too high to get it over those rocks that one way ... time to back up and find another angle to the rock pile.

I don’t mind drilling holes in it to add accessories. Those are things that might decrease it’s value to some potential future owner but increase its utility to me. I figure I’m more important to me than some future owner that hopefully won’t see the inside of it until I’m pushing up daisies. Apparently I didn’t buy it for the same uses as the OP, that’s fine, neither of us needs either permission or approval but if you post anything you’ll get feed back. It doesn’t have to always be favorable.

No offense, but this is a load of crap. Ive had my rev limiter set at 7000 for months and it has caused literally 0 issues. The 2GRFKS in the Lexus/Toyota cars have a rev limiter set at 7000 factory as opposed to the tacos 6000 or whatever, and an RR racing tune will bump that up to 7500rpm. More than safe to spin these motors fast. That rev limiter cutoff is still insanely annoying tho and id appreciate any help getting rid of it, it always messes up my drifts lol.

This is the only workaround to the annoying rev limiter that ive found.. It seems to cancel the fuel cut as soon as you lift off the gas, so you just gotta hammer the hell out of it lmao: https://youtube.com/shorts/erkrFDIeHRg?si=5pvrfFWpOgygxHQ3

I find it hard to believe that you are more in touch with the mechanics and design of the 2gr than the toyota engineers. When you're claiming everyone else is wrong and the problem...maybe you are the problem? The tacoma also is tuned differently than all the other 2gr-fks applications. What you're saying is essentially the same as comparing a Chevy 350 in a camaro to the Chevy 350 in a work van. Comparing apples to oranges here buddy.

I'll say it again, you bought the wrong vehicle to drift but want to keep pissing into the wind.

@3JOH22A doesn't your tune cancel this cutoff out? I remember I had this issue in Silver Lake.

Op- I get what you're saying, I had the same issue sand dune climbing.

Luckily, I'm in a 2nd gen apparently. But I can absolutely see it being an issue. I've forgotten to turn off traction control and such out on the dunes and had the truck lose just about all power, which could be dangerous in some instances. I'm not bouncing off the rev limiter for extended periods, but I've definitely hit it multiple times a day out on the sand trying to keep momentum up in a lower gear. And yes I'm aired down and know how to drive in the sand. I've even towed my car trailer up some pretty good dunes with the Taco, hahaha.

and Of course, I did try the Pedal Commander which didn't help at all unfortunately
Thanks a lot for sharing. Do you think this table are correct parameters for that please?

Yeah, I've bounced limiter for 10 or 15 seconds on some of the large ones haha. Only way to make it up.

Thanks :)) You're the only one so far who's feeling my pain. so how did you translate the 10 or 15 secs into the below table ? Do you think the below value range is in Sec (0 and 51199.21)? VFTuner does not give clarity on that

I didn't modify my own tune, unfortunately. I'm running a valleyrunner 2.0 tune, purchased the file directly.

    https://valleytune.com/product-tag/tacoma/

It already had that safety turned off, the file is locked, so I can't poke around in it for you unfortunately. Good luck, and ignore the haters haha. A little rev limiter wont hurt these trucks.

Correct. My 2021-era KDMax tune put the redline at 7250 rpm and I was able to pin the throttle there in 2nd gear 4lo for ~5 minutes charging through snow in February.

In the Lotus Evora tuning circles, 7300 is generally recognized as the max safe rpm for this engine before needing mods like rocker arm retention clips: https://www.monkeywrenchracing.com/...ter-and-rocker-retainer-kit-lotus-toyota-2gr/

Bummer, I thought the pedal commander would work. I think Toyota did something to lock this thing behind a safe or something. It came up in the ovtune thread a while back and even they couldn’t figure it out. I am cvc tuned and it’s based on the ovtune and I still have the annoying throttle cut. I agree with @black3rdgen it’s tons of fun to swing on dirt roads and bang limiter, and I honestly don’t think that disabling the trottle cut would cause your engine to immediately grenade, just be smart and don’t ride the limited for 20 minutes straight probably

I'm at 100k miles with it disabled and regularly utilizing the limiter to get thru deep mud and snow, never had a issue. Cleans out the carbon LOL

The only difference between our motor and the car motor is intake manifold and tune. No internal differences. Can definitely handle 7000+ RPM, the Toyota engineers know this. Also I don’t think I bought the wrong vehicle to drift. I’ve drifted every vehicle I’ve owned lol, it’s in my nature. Sorry it bothers you that I have fun in my truck

I’m currently running a Yotawerx tune, so I honestly couldn’t tell you. I’ve always wanted to get into tuning my own stuff but I have no clue where to even start.
