My brother got pissed at a guy in high school, lifted the carpet (or whatever) in the back floorboard of his truck and put a dead fish under there. Summertime.

The first house my wife and I bought was divided into separate apartments, upstairs and downstairs . We transferred some deer meat from our rental to the upstairs apartment freezer. A couple of days later I went in to check on it to find the freezer has stopped working. It was disgusting to say the least. I ended up strapping the doors closed and we managed to carry the unit downstairs and I disposed of it. To me there is no worst smell than that of rotting flesh.

I put a dead Canadian goose under my cousins fold down back seat of his dodge ram after he left me at a house party 15 years ago and I had to fend for myself 40 miles from home.

well I have one more, and I'll leave it at that. I had some idiot dump a can or two of sardines all over the engine of my brothers Cutlass one Halloween night. I was driving it at the time and believe me when that engine got really hot and those sardines started cooking on the manifold, Ugh, what a disgusting stink, that took some time to wear off.

    Important commercial and bait fish.
A friend forgot he had about a dozen of them in his baitwell on his boat for about a week in the Summer.
    Flies got in as well.
They were a little "soupy" when he discovered them.
His neighbors in the marina weren't too thrilled.

What is the secret for keeping your feet warm or at least not freezing to when your hunting in cold weather?

So don’t mind my soapbox speech here. I guided for years so there’s something that’s often overlooked by folks.

easy answer: If I’m “still” hunting I wear overly insulated rubber lacross boots, wool socks that are knee high, thermal bottoms, and insulated pants. I’ll go progressively heavier and more layered than that if it’s 20 and lower.

more complex answer: if you want warm toes, you’ve got to have warm feet. If you want warm feet you have to have warm legs.. so on and so forth. People typically overlook their legs when insulating from the cold cause it’s not often an area that’s uncomfortable when cold, like your upper body and feet.

get boots a half size or full size too big. Get a nice fluffy pair of knee high socks. Get a nice wool pair of thermal bottoms. Toss on some fleece lined pants. Then toss on something that doesn’t breathe well like rain pants or at least water resistant pants.

Also, make sure your boot laces, if you’ve got em, are looser than you’d keep them when it’s more moderate of a temp outside. Tight laces will slightly restrict blood flow and cause cold feet quickly. Standard tight laces are too tight when it’s cold out.

Yea I’m in the south, but I’ve hunted buffalo ny, Montana, Colorado, Pennsylvania, etc so I’ve been in the cold.

I also use the hot toes for a half day sit. For an all day sit, the insoles and hot toes.
The new technology in batteries has me interested in the heated socks though.

interesting. I've experienced trouble with just my toes being cold. If I went to make my legs warmer then I'd have a problem with sweating during an even minor hike to a hunt spot. I warm up quickly and start sweating profusely. not just because I'm carrying extra fat now. When I was young, 6' and 170 pounds in peak shape, I still ran hot and sweated hard. Even after a cold shower I will continue to sweat for about an hour.

I have climbed a hill and stripped down to my bare naked ass because I had to get the wool base layer off LOL

I'll stress what @Dangerdave said....your boots need to be roughly one size too big. If your toes cant move around and get some air circulation you'll freeze. And only one pair of socks. I wear 800 gram rubber boots, hunt from an aluminum platform and my feet rarely get cold.
Years ago I wore boots that 'fit', wore 2 pairs of socks and my feet were cold all the time.
