No more enamel paints. That shit just wouldn't cure. Apparently a problem with red paint, doesn't help that it's so small you can't help but get fingers all over it. Something about the abundance of pigment that screws with the cure time.
    Complete strip down.

Redid the battery wiring to a more suitable configuration.
Fully removed the excess switch wire from the RX board, soldered it up and coated the board with liquid electrical tape.
Added O rings to the motor wires to retain them since the clips were removed for battery space.
And coated the LED's with clear nail polish hoping to increase the diameter enough that they stay more secure in the headlight holes.
I have some Candy Scarlet acrylic that might look good over the white.

It's a black frame, not sure if dye would take. :notsure:
Plus, doesn't that require dipping it in while it's hot? Might deform the frame.

Radio Shack and Toys R Us had some quality RC cars long ago. Not the typical cheap stuff you find today.

After putting it off for a bit, ordered some Injora links, tires, wheels, and wheel weights for the FCX18

Also had ordered and installed their magnet release setup so I no longer have to unscrew the body to remove it

Back on the subject of shocks, since I ordered other suspension upgrades to aid in more flex/travel.

Seems no one but Injora offers shocks which sucks. Many have reported getting the wrong hardware, or missing hardware in general.

Others state that they leaked completely within the first use.

Only thing I was concerned about was the shock height but now I'm reading about quality control issues. Anyone here with an FCX18 print their own shock towers? I'm considering taking a chance on their 59mm set but also raising the mounting height a bit but don't have a 3D printer.

    Will pay of course.

I use Carisma Msa-1e shocks on my fms based Furitek cayman, they have been very very slow to leak. Think I’ve had them on the chassis for 18+ months and they have been dry.

I just got my 5 year old a Senton 4x4 Brushed version for $200 for Christmas. But, picked it up from my LHS. Not sure if they are available on Amazon.

Ok, so I opened the boxes last night. But, just to take inventory, make sure it's all there.:anonymous:
Good thing I did, I had to order a set of 18mm aluminum wheels and another set of tires.

Got it better this time. White cures in no time flat. No fingerprints, loss of gloss, etc... Circuit board is now taped to the roof, batteries are shoved all the way forward, making them centered fore and aft now. That blue wire at the bottom not only ties the two together, but it structurally pushes them down where they need to sit.

I really wanna know how you would get a speaker and sound card in there..

The new wheels and tires I ordered are for this guy. I like the new shocks and how they perform, they stay. Decided some aluminum wheels would prolly give just enough extra weight to keep it rubber down.

I like the white look, I miss they old days of white spoke wheels.

Any reason to not use Dupli-Color paint on plastic? It's a genuine Toyota color and I have three cans for some reason, that should be enough.

This kit has a lot of small detail parts that all get painted.
The fender flares get black, since I suck at this paint thing, I assume it's easier to paint the flares black first (Tamiya paint), let it cure for a week, tape it off and then shoot the body?

I would paint the whole thing then use a plastic bag to tape off the body to leave the fender flares for paint.
