The last flat l had was with a bed full of pressure treated lumber. Couldn't imagine having to unload all that on the side of the highway just to get to the spare.

pulled the taillight off and took another look, they might work, but they are probably overkill on the weight capacity

 

i don't know how i missed your original post, but do you have more info on this build? specifically the hinges?

 

Does it lose space? I don’t think it does

 

Atleast on my DCLB there is a huge amount of empty space behind those lights. Eapecially on the driverside since they got rid of the in bed storage compartment.
