Thank you for this. I appreciate it. I agree about the ergos. Just a nice set up all around. If I go with a 2023 it is similar to the 2022 4Runner I traded in and had nothing bad to say about the interior at all. Like most of us who bought the Gen 4 you really get spoiled once you drive it!

Within 20 minutes of getting home from the dealership my old Toyota dealership in Vegas called. I had talked to them a couple weeks ago to get the ball rolling. Fucker had my phone bugged or something. How'd he know I just settled things!!:) I told him I would take a 2025 Xtracab 4x4 SR5 if he can get one. He said its near impossible and just pushed the double cab that I don't want. Not settling for anything this time around. We will see if he can locate one. Going to contact the dealerships in Utah and Vegas and see who can get what. Not going to be an easy find. They have a 2024 Trail runner I can have but only 2wd. I need 4wd for the sand out here where I go.

Is this the part where the thread turns to posting pics of cats?

BTW, congrats Bronze for getting this across the finish line.

They know if you go ballistic they have you on video, and you will go to jail. The unprofessional fucks don’t deserve your time or money.

Congrats on closing the book on this story.

Wow! I’m so proud of myself. I saw this thing to its completion. I’ve been following this thread since I joined TW way back in 2013…or so it seems. Glad the OP finally got everything taken care of. I’m not sure I’d have had the patience to see it through to the end. Now…on to the next one.

Agreed... just had to dig deep and breathe. And thank you. Looking forward to getting something new and returning to a normal life. I had to laugh when a friend called me to go shooting a few weeks ago and hadn't talked to her in a bit. I felt like a high school kid saying " I can't .. I have no car ". LOL. If I buy a slightly used one that leaves a bit leftover for mods. We will see. Thank you again

FWIW, I had multiple dealerships tell me that either they were unable to find an xtracab or pretend to initiate the process, but still keep pushing w/ the DCs (or just flat not respond at all to the initial inquiry). Once a dealer was located that was willing to actually try to get an allocation for me it was a fairly smooth process---- not necessarily fast, but all things considered, far faster than others I've read about having to wait for theirs. Just a guess, but the likelihood that most dealers are "unable" to get you an XC is prob close to zero---- they just want you to get what they want you to take. Very glad to hear that after such a long BS process, you've finally gotten to the other end of it---- and keep in mind there are dealers that will work on your behalf to find you an XC. Good luck w/ whatever's next.

Bronze washed his hands of the dealer early on.
That was strictly just his frustration & their lack of follow through...

The delayed process had zero to do with the dealer.
Once you file directly with toyota, dealer is out of the equation.
    Wasnt delayed cuz of dealer.
It doesn't happen overnight, its a process.
Toyota gives you a date, you get your hopes-up thinking ok, it will be over after this call back...
Then there's 20 other hoops you have to jump through, not realizing...

Only delays were a few weeks here & there where some clerical errors were made on Toyotas part, so had to be resolved.
Its just a time consuming process...
    Its done now!

Via the steering wheel controls? Pretty sure I turned mine off there on the test drive before I purchased it, or right after.

    Definitely not via Carista.

Completely Rhino lined, camper shell, hitch, grill guard, custom wheels. Working on a slide out bed for camping while out hunting.
I’d be in the dealer’s face demanding a loaner until they gave me a good reason why not.

my dealer failed to tighten the lug nuts on my front wheel 2 years ago. It flew off and I crashed. They had to repair my truck and pay for a rental for over 2 months.

Were I you, and had the money and inclination to buy a Taco, I'd just get a '25 and be done with it.
    Of course, I'd get a 6-speed, but that's me.
The hybrid models by all accounts have plenty of pep and torque, and the 8-speed a/t have had a much better reception than the 3rd gen trannys.
