Sweet. Yeah I’m going to be looking for a lease. I’m tired of bumming off friends leases and really tired of public.

Might not be a Boone & Crockett, but that buck has a nice inside spread. Congrats are in order.

Dewayne: I just saw your other post. So it's a TWOFER Week for you.

I couldn't agree more. Hunting on public land is extremely hard. I'd love to see some of these "Hunting Show" big wigs, take the time to trek all over the Uwharrie National Forest for a month or 2 before the season starts, and then see how they do when they get setup and some dumb ass comes stomping through the woods. I've bee 1 1/2 miles from a gravel road, and had Morons walk in on me, and they weren't even hunting.

For the record I always carried a very small backpack, climbing stand, gun or bow.

This is a friend of mine, multi millionaire. He goes all over the country hunting, sometimes out of the country.

He killed this at his house in Guilford County, N.C. yesterday.

TW score, higher than I can count

Late bow season / gun season can be really cold where I hunt. It's also fairly hilly terrain. So dressing for sitting in a tree stand in the cold weather, and walking in like that, I'd be soaking wet by the time I got to my tree stand. I take a backpack in almost every time I hunt. Have my bibs and coat and beanie cap and whatever else I need to stay warm in it and walk in with a minimal of clothes on. Put my s*** on when I get to my stand and climb up. When the hunt is done I take my s*** off put it in my backpack and walk out. I also might very well have a limb saw, a knife, binoculars, pen and a piece of paper for a temporary tag. I can easily shoot my gun or bow with a backpack on, and the last thing I want to do is stuff a bunch of s*** in the pockets of my pants.

But it sounds like youre covering ground to get there.

Don't take my post as critical. It's just my ignorant redneck opinion and not aimed at anyone in particular. Its also not all encompassing, just me talking shit

Hunting public,"quasi-public",shared, and a very small amount of private is how it landed for me.
Hunted many years in Vermonts GMNF, considered public, but hard pressed to see another hunter.
When I did see someone, I made a very wide detour to get around or they waved me in and would discuss world problems for an hour.
Deer densities are low but you have to hunt them and cover ground.
OTOH, public here in ct is a crapshoot. I avoid openers and Saturdays and hunt the "off" days and have done well.
Too many Fudds during the peak times.
If I get to one of "my spots" and someone is there, I'll go somewhere else and kill a deer.:rofl:
