It's been about a decade since we were looking to buy a new vehicle. Came across the term iTPMS and needed to look it up.

An iTPMS (Indirect Tire Pressure Monitoring System) works by utilizing the existing wheel speed sensors in a vehicles ABS system to estimate tire pressure without using dedicated pressure sensors; essentially, when a tire is underinflated, it has a smaller diameter and rotates faster, allowing the system to detect pressure issues by comparing the rotational speeds of each wheel and alerting the driver if there's a significant difference, indicating low pressure in one or more tires.

I replaced a wheel speed sensor in her Acura that threw every code except limp mode. Those things are a PITA.

Soo, I have decided to take a deep dive into watchmaking!!!! Short term goal is to make the watch cases, dials and bands and use decent mechanical movements already available! Then start making my own mechanical movement main plates and bridges but using the gear train from movements I deconstruct. Final goal, probably at least 1-2 years out, is to be able to produce almost the entire mechanical movement assembly in house.
I know. I’m crazy. But this like an ultimate challenge of engineering, design, machining, and precision for myself.
The fun part about this is getting into tool making. Having to use the tools I have to machine tools to be able to then make watch gears and pinions.

Dang Phill seriously impressive undertaking. You might have an easier time nailing jello to the wall! God speed, friend.

 

Couldn’t imagine but I did watch my late great friend Henry in action. Took a year longer to be a clockmaker/master craftsman in Germany than it took to be a Dr.

Me I’d have mini pry bars bruising mini knuckles with mini cuss words. Soldering steady is a challenge.

 

I’ve got two case designs already most of the way through the prototype phase. Can’t wait to show them off. I’m think by the end of January for one and the end of February for the other to be finished.

Henry’s bread ‘n butter was floor standin’ clocks. Had a powder blue dodge polara wagon for in shop pickups. He did real good with just word of mouth.
