I loved my traxxas E-Maxx back in the day! Thing was a beast. I still have it but I lost the remote and haven’t used it in 15 years now. I keep toying with the idea of getting The remote and new batteries and starting the hobby back up. You won’t regret traxxas.

You scared to post that in the RC thread? I was watching videos this morning comparing the Teton to the arrma Grom Granite and the guy liked the Grom better. :notsure:

for some reason, Traxxas is the love/hate brand of the industry. almost like because they are so big, some people get snobby over them because they feel like their smaller brand truck is more unique and unhindered by the big corporate innerworkings. like i said, great hobby, but can be a weird group at times. didn't want to wad any panties in the thread.

anyhow, the teton and grom are in the "entry level" category for both brands. doesn't make either any less of a great truck, but there are certain characteristics changes between the entry level and high end within the brands. i've driven entry level and top of the line Traxxas trucks, but i've only driven the high end 1/8 scale stuff from Arrma, so i have no personal experience with the Grom or similar within their lineup. im sure its a great truck if it's anything like the rest of their stuff, i just didn't want to tell you to get something ive never driven.

whichever one you get, plan on getting a second one shortly after, because if your son loves it, which I'm sure he will, he'll really love you driving one with him.

I use to race RC Short Course trucks for a few years. Just 2WD not 4WD. I’d roll up in my Tacoma and my tail gate was my work bench. 75% of the pit parking was big trucks pulling big ass toy haulers. I kept it simple. One truck with a spare truck should I need a part or swap trucks. :mudding:

You race around here? I got spoiled when I lived in houston. Tracks everywhere. To my knowledge, we only have the one race track in summerville here.

Pulled the trigger on a 12v diesel heater. It'll pull triple duty for shop heat, truck bed heat, and Aux house heat (heat pump freezes up below 28 degrees  )

Two tracks here. One track in Columbia. One really nice track in Myrtle Beach and one nice track in Savannah. Big races always take place at the one in Dirty Myrtle. I started with a Traxxas but they are just made for bashing. Once I knew I wanted to race I went with the HPI Blitz. If I raced now I would probably chose the Losi Short Course truck.

oof, those are drives. i ran a 4wd short course truck in texas that i eventually converted into a truggy. no longer have that one, but i do have my associated 2wd buggy still. one of the most fun trac trucks i have though is an old nitro jato that i electric converted. mid engine 2wd. i have it sat super low, but it has a ton of travel, which makes it very forgiving.

    Nitro Jato

    Brushless conversion jato.

Never raced mine, but I built some sweet jumps! I always wanted to race them but was never good enough to even go try.

Finally getting bed liner sprayed in... anyone want a drop in liner for a 1st gen xtracab bed? Hate to send it to waste if it can be used elsewhere.

Man, back in the day I’d be all over it. Tie it up behind the truck and use it as a sled! See who could hold on the longest. Man those were fun times.

12v diesel heater showed up 4 days early! Going to get a diesel can and fuel later today. Got it just in time to keep our AC unit unfrozen this weekend.

That is the best use of a drop in bed liner I've heard yet!

Everyone I had got cut up with the circular saw and into the recycle bin the pieces went.

In my teen years we did this with an old spring filled matress. Cut a hole In it. Ran a rope through it. Hooked it to a 4wheeler and played king of the mountain. Jumping on and knocking each other off being dragged around a field. One of the funniest memories.

My hunt club uses larger ones to build ground blinds.

that sounds so much better than the old car hoods we would flip over and pull. had to wear leather gloves so you didn't cut off your fingers trying to hold on.

Yup. Had a hell of a time with them. Had to wear paintball masks because we kept doing donuts and slinging dirt and rocks trying to sling people off. Ended up having to screw a 2x4 to the front of it to keep it from folding up in itself. Damn good times!
