The "Trail Toys" gas tank skid i have for my truck is UHMW (ultra high Molecular Weight) polyethylene. It is strong as hell and only weight like 7 pounds. I had knocked it pretty good a lot of times and it has held up.....

Come to supply chain. It's a different kind of stress. One I'd much rather. :)

Nope.....my skid still had some pliability in 25° weather. The stuff is built like a tank, but it's also expensive. Keep in mind that it's not like carbon fiber, and it doesn't have stiffness, but it has impact resistance.

Oh I've made parts for injection heads, waaaay less stressful. "Oh it's out, just welding it up and recut it, it will be fine"

How is it dragging over rocks? I bet it just slides off. No worry about rust either.

Absolutely slides, but keep in mind that it is 1/4" thick but is attached to something that is already a flat surface. For something like an ifs skid where it has four to 6 mounting points but not flat. You would need a much thicker piece. Minimally 1/2" but 1" most likely to create the stiffness. A 1/2" thickness in a 24" x 48" sheet goes for an average of $140 and the same size in a 1" thick is about $320.

I went from aero to industrial. My first MRB meeting we had sales. "yeah it's out. We can use that".

That was quick. I’ll probably get a set in the spring when I can actually paint them.
