Who killed the transmission dipstick and why? I need to understand.

 

You just need the dipstick and tube if yours is a later model.

Believe the pan is the same and has the "half-tube" portion still.

I don't remember for sure but I know that transmission mounts are in the same spot so the rest of it might work too

 

Rockautos showing a 1” difference for the Dorman shafts. Slip joint should absorb that on the road id think, maybe too short at full droop though

 

Just confirm with partsouq or do a visual inspection. It'll come out the passenger side if you do indeed have the half tube sticking up.

Believe it mates the same way the tube does on an A340. Just uses an o-ring between the two tubes.

 

Depends where the length difference occurs. If it occurs before the center bearing that's going to be a problem

Unless his transmission side section is fine? Can’t remember if his was damaged before the cb
Id imagine balance could be an issue replacing half though?

 

Theyre balanced separately but I have a feeling it's probably incompatible because he got it aftermarket drive shaft entirely
