So, I’m out in the shop welding and kept looking out the windows for deer in the yard. There are two behind the deck, check.

I grab Cole’s muzzle loader cause I know it’s loaded, check to make sure the primer is in, check.

I sneak around the front of the house and raise the gun to peak around the corner and they don’t have a clue. Yay.

I put one in the scope, was it the biggest, I don’t know, don’t care at this point, I squeeze the trigger and boom!

    Primer goes off, that’s all.

I pulled the breech plug out and checked it, it wasn’t clogged at all. I think it was just a bad primer. It wasn’t as loud as usual.

So this young dude (30ish ) stopped me at work this morning and says next year he's going to all traditional archery equipment. So I says I guess yer giving up that aluminum climbing stand? He says no, still gonna use that. So I says, so yer gonna be making yer own broadheads? That should be interesting. He says, no I'm gonna buy broadheads. So I says, what kind of wood are you using for yer bow? Osage? Willow? And he says, I'm gonna be buying that too. So I says, so basically you'll be hunting just like normal but with shittier equipment.

I may regret saying it one of these days but I’ve never had a misfire or hang fire with my old hawken in the woods. Just takes a little attention before and after use. Have had caps go bad, usually buy a new tin every other year. And there is nothing like the excitement of firing off a round at a deer and waving all that dam smoke away to try to see if it's down or headed to parts unknown.
And forgive me for posting it but I got my first with a muzzleloader. Was my brothers CVA kit gun and long gone. Hawken pictured above I got used at 16 and refinished a few years back. It's seen some use.
