I suppose it's worth a shot. Just jack your axle up a little bit to take weight off of it and pull them out

I don't know if you said it more towards being against the use of mild steel or not

But I also don't see people use mild steel in general, at least in my groups

    It's always stainless steel

When mine squeaked, it was due to the "pads" between each leaf

We're about to make a 5vz manifold kit that I'm hoping to be able to sell a few of afterwards. CX mani is shit, low quality stainless and it's not very stout. And all the other ones I've seen use mild. But I want to use high thickness schedule stainless. We were going to have Alex at chilkat designs cut some flanges for us because we've been working together on projects. Doesn't seem like anybody is supplying stainless 5vz flanges anymore

That makes sense, and I think that's why that guy mentioned what he said.

In my mind I read his post as "so, I got all this 3/8"s...I can make flanges and sell them and shit"

That's badass though that you're making a kit.

I mean yeah that's kind of what he does he owns a off-road fab shop in Oregon. So does Alex haha. Our race truck project with the T100 is going to be powered with my spare 5VZ first, we kind of just want to see what the limit is of it. But it needs a turbo kit, and if you're going to make one you might as well make a recipe to make a couple more. Because eventually mine is going to need to be redone and I'm sure some other folks would enjoy one that actually fits versus having a modify the CX one.

Ahh ok, I thought the guy posting was just some rando like the other guys asking what the correct LBJ parts numbers are or if they should buy OEM parts from Joe Joe or not.

Some more love for the 5VZ community.

@time623 when are you gonna do something cool with your truck so you can post on IG :luvya:

I don't know why people like JoeJoe so much. His prices are nearly the same as just buying something from any of the other online Toyota places.

But yeah 5VZ is going to get a little more love. It has potential, sort of soft goal with the T100 this upcoming race season is to crack off a 10 second pass, if it can do that it can go a 9. After the dyno trip with mine it gave us some serious hope for it. While it was on the dyno it was completely happy to just keep making more power and it wasn't having any ping from timing, it just needed more boost. And I kind of wanted to stop after we cracked 400 wheel. But could have just kept turning it up, I have a feeling we would have found the limits of my 95 to 97 composite head gaskets before we found the mechanical limits of the 5VZ.

I found prothane grease to work best - I used them both for my leaf pack as well as my lower control arm bushings.

I had squeaking up front when I went with Whitelines only to take things apart again and use prothane. The stock stuff kind of sucked.

You need the ones like on my truck. The bolts have grease ports on them.

Yeah I noticed that when someone asked about I think a steering rack and the prices Joe Joe quoted; happened to be around the time Nick was posting here looking for one.

Like Zane said, his prices are easily available to the public after looking at maybe 3-4 different sites. When I bought that starter from the parts dealer in NC, it was cheaper than everywhere else (with all other dealers being between $7 - 15 so not much of a difference).

So, where there may be a difference, it's not enough to make or break a deal as they're all pretty damn close.

Turns out it was just the rear shackle bushings making 90% of the noise. Yeah I need to get greasable shackles..

I wish all bushings were that easy, if they were @Wulf ’s lca bushings wouldn’t still be sitting in a box in the garage lol

I don't know what leaf pack you run, but most are pressed in up front with some of them being rubber so they don't get greased.

The CS019R and 18r come without bushings. So whatever they are he put them in by hand.
