Although I was raised Protestant I'm not particularly tied to any one religion, or even religion in general if I'm honest. There's good stuff in there, and I have seen the power of unified faith do great things, so I don't knock it either. I do believe in a power higher than human beings (how tough can that be after all?) and I also believe that at least one of those higher powers is us, in combination.

My wife has been struck low by something powerful and devious, possibly an infection of some sort. In the span of two weeks this malevolent force turned a woman who would go for a 30 mile bike ride in the hills around here, get a shower, and head back out to help a friend with disabilities in a home health role -- gratis -- into a shell of that. In the past week it got so bad that we hospitalized her. They are running test upon test, cultures, samples, images. Many of them multiple times. So far nothing. She is doing better in the hospital than she was at home, but she is still a fraction of the woman she was two weeks ago.

I'm humbly asking that your thoughts, prayers, vibes, wishes, be sent her way. Thanks.

I'm ambiguous about religion too, but I'll offer a prayer up.

Sad to hear that Dave,, wishing all the best for your wife and I'll throw a  in there also, hope they can figure out what's going on.
Just a thought, I would assume they are looking into possible Covid or Flu, but I have heard people mention that tick-borne diseases like Lymes can sometimes be hard to diagnose.

Thanks Carl. Lyme test is underway, my understanding is they take a couple of days. We do live in the woods, and I contracted a close cousin of Lyme transmitted by the same critter a couple of years ago, so it's a possibility. The C-word etc. has been tested 3 or 4 times depending on which one, always negative. It's a crafty bug, this one.

    Good Morning everyone

Nice clear but cold morning here in Middle Tennessee , Currently 23°. There's thick frost in the field behind my house and quite a few deer are grazing right now

Welcome to the thread, and TW. All newbies fill up the cooler to your left with the beverage of your choice. You will need to clean the coffee pot and the hot water pot, required job for newcomers. Oh, and stay off of the big fancy rocking chair, the owner gets perturbed when someone sits in his rocker.

@wdb  For you and the family

Good morning. A chilly 18 degrees here in the DC area this morning. Went out restaurant hoping and music listening last night. Finished baking cookies yesterday. Going to take it easy today, maybe go out to a winery to listen to music and a glass of wine. I hope your teams won yesterday and best of luck to them today.

Well due to our dishwasher melt down earlier this week, my plan for cooking for our holiday guests got compressed to yesterday, so after a 3.5 mile jog around a local lake (shhh! don't tell my knee surgeon), I made three gallons of venison and black bean chili, eight dozen chocolate chip and pecan cookies, a loaf of white sourdough, and started another loaf of sourdough Einkorn for my gluten intolerant guests.

@wdb, even though I've been a recovering Catholic for decades now, I'm praying for your wife.

I vehemently reject scary Christmas movies. Latest is a Christmas Nosferatu movie. I don’t care if you like scary movies or not but this is NOT part of the Christmas story for me.

Sorry that is all. Carry on.
