I see a lot of Tacoma’s going around with their roofs paint peeling or the clearcoat is gone. I had a 2005 and when I purchased it in 2011 the clear coat was disintegrating. I was wondering if they make a third gen clear bra? I realize that I could buy a generic roll off Amazon and do it myself. I do have a sunroof, but I’m mainly looking for a clear bra for the front part of the roof. Any suggestions? I do keep a regular UV wax applied. Truck is black.

Maybe just pony up and have someone install some 3m or similar film. Shouldn't cost much and easier and look better than a bra.

I'd think that would make things worse. Getting grime and grit under it scratching paint

I'd just get the roof wrapped.

My 2013 clear coat is so bad I don’t even wash it anymore. It’s getting repainted eventually.
If you have a decent paint job I would get it professionally ceramic coated, then treated with their preventative detailing once a year after that.
Once I get my truck repainted that’s what I’m doing. Toyota paint is the worst!

Just cut the roof off and you'll never have to worry about it again.

expel sells the roof portion precut. however it doesn't offer UV protection, their words, so it will not protect from fading/failing due to UV.
good ceramic coating, keeping it clean and parking under something out of the sun are really all you can do.

I briefly had a '19 white sr5 and you could see where the paint was failing through the PPF.

It’s like a wrap. No dirt would get under.

I’m still skeptical about the ceramic coating lasting any longer than a good wax job, but I’m open to listening to others experiences.

Definitely will be considering a wrap if it starts failing.

Take it to a shop or wrap shop that does clear bras and have them do it on the roof.
