Replaced aluminum skid plates with new steel Cali-Raised full skid set picked up on Black Friday.

I appreciated the weight of the aluminum but it wasn't enough and got beat to s**t.

It’s a cheap Hooke Road bumper that I raptor lined. Not sure if they sell them anymore though. It’s a knockoff of the C4 rear bumper

Paint looks pretty spot on. Added some bed decals to give it that stock look to.

 

I'm normally not a fan of the fiberglass bed sides and fenders, maybe it's because I'm from the southeast and they aren't that common. But, that is a badass truck. Nice job.

 

Ordered wheels for the DD. 3rd gen factory upgrades. They should be here in a bout a week. Once they show up I'll order tires. Gonna go with some 265/75r16 all terrains.

Bit the bullet and replaced the serpentine belt and pulleys. New Gates idlers and new bearing in the tensioner pulley.



Crawling under the truck out in the desert isn't an ideal situation but the job was fairly easy. Tough on the forearms but saved a decent amount of dollars.

What you have stated here is what you implied in your original post.

I am more than curious as to what led you to the conclusion that technology that can identify transmissions associated with determining the speed of an object is outdated? The US Military should be informed of this immediately so they can stop all the programs that continue to do research on ways to improve the tracking of flying objects due to this astounding revaluation.

And, the impacts of the military related to this technology is HUGE; and, a big part of why the late Mike Valentine insisted on including the latest and greatest detection capabilities in his product; that would be the Valentine 1 line of radar detectors for those of you not "in the know".

Numerous ways to determine the speed of an object have been around since the beginning of man's ability to "clock" time. Think about it; all you are doing is measuring the time it takes an object to move between two points (distance). All you have to know is the distance between the two points and the amount of time it takes to get from one point to the other to determine the speed of the object.

As man has been able to understand and "tame" technology to do his bidding he has become much more sophisticated in his ability to determine the start and end point as well as the amount of time taken.

All a "radar" gun does is measure that amount of time it takes a moving object (a vehicle in this case) to go from one point to another. This means that is is necessary for the gun to get two readings, start and end point for the first part of the equation (distance) it is going to solve and the time it takes to move from point one to point two.

If the movement between the points is not constant, the calculation cannot be made, with accuracy. So, if, for example, you were decelerating or accelerating rapidly at the time a radar gun is trying to make a determination of the speed involved, it would not be able to do so until the speed between samples (start and end point) is constant.

And that is the key to how a radar detector can be used to defeat a radar gun. As has been pointed out, it is very difficult, if not impossible, for "instant on" radar guns to be "defeated". The time it takes a human who must hear the radar detector signal that is has been activated to get off/on the gas/brakes is too long and the radar gun is able to make the calculation based on a constant speed. IF (note use of BIG IF) you are able to either accelerate/decelerate very rapidly such that the radar gun cannot get the computation made while the speed is constant you have a chance of "beating the clock" so to speak. You do so at your own risk.

And this is not because I say so, it is nothing more than physics. Think about a baseball coming off the bat. When it begins it flight, it is moving at a constant speed. But, for every increment in time that it continues its flight it is not maintaining a constant speed; the speed is deceasing incrementally over a constant period of the time it is in the air. So, it is possible to get the speed when it first comes off the bat but it is very difficult to get the speed as it continues its flight.

So, in order for a moving vehicle to "defeat" a radar gun, the driver of the vehicle being "zapped" must be able to alter his/her speed immediately and continue to do so until the speed is not in excess of the posted speed in order for the result from the radar to be valid. Usually one will choose to slow down rather than speed up for what is an obvious reason. But, to be successful, the reaction must be instant and you must remain hard on the brakes until the legal limit has been reached. Ease up on the brakes such that the speed is constant for a very small bit of time and you are, well, "dead meat".

Again, this is not because I say so, it is because physics says so. And, please, let us not get into the debate about the width of a radar signal and how many vehicles could be involved in the beam of a radar signal. That has nothing to do with the basics of how a radar gun works that we are discussing here. It does have a lot to do with how a radar gun is used and why appropriate training is necessary for the operator.

 

That's a lot of typing to tell someone that it would be safer and easier to obey the posted speed limit

 

Finally installed cruise control in the base taco lol. Replaced the 3rd brake light too and I think I found where some of the leaking was coming from. Seal was shot.
