That’s exactly what I did. First speaker mod was the Subaru tweeter upgrade (Kicker). I did also buy the Kicker CS plug-n-play Tacoma kit on Amazon. It literally has everything you need including speaker mount plates. I was simple and straight forward and they sound great! I did add a sub too. I went with the JL Audio 10” Stealth Series. It’s made for the passenger side rear bin behind the back seat. Threw a 400w JL amp to it and let me tell you… that thing BANGS!! I’d still like to add the 200w Kicker Key amp to the door speakers. It’s nice because it’s a compact amp, designed to tuck away in or under the dash. Alpine head unit would be amazing, but can’t phantom almost $1500 for it. But who know, I plan on keeping the truck for a long time… so that’s on my side. Lol.

 

I’ve got infinity something or others in the front doors and ds8 or 18s instead of the Subaru tweeters. They’ve helped. I think a head unit would be the best thing but that’s a lot of research to figure a good replacement.

The kicker key amp seems like a good alternative.

 

Stinger makes a massive display kit for the Tacoma… but I’ve read mixed reviews about them. But they definitely look great!


I favor the Alpine simply because I’ve lover their products since high school and have never disappointed.

And then there’s this guy… it’s a full dash kit…
